Hi Nope, it is still easy to get to. The weathertech one from the priuschat store is a bit pricey I will admit, however it fits the back perfectly and does a better job holding things from moving than the carpet. Its pretty light, so you can still lift up the lid, probably just as easy as the carpet if not easier. Hope this helps
