The Prius is a great car but I went up to Wyoming yesterday and was driving on some back roads and of course came across a bunch of cows. Normally when this happens in other cars they move but in the prius and its quiet silent way of life the dumb animals just sat there and stared at me. Moving forward had no effect, and yelling and honking didnt either. Fortunately a guy on an ATV came by and that made the cows run for there lives and I finally got though. Not thats its a bad thing but it is quite funny. I have to say since I started taking my Prius into the mountains I have never before been able to drive with in less than 10 feet of deer and have them just look at me and not run away. Same with many other animals. In fact one has to be careful as you could hit them! Bottom line, it may be worth the $5 to get a toy cap gun and or other noise maker if you plan on going out into the wild with your prius. Otherwise enjoy the silence!

that's just how cows are... sometimes they'll hang around in front of the tractor till you think it's gonna hit them!

I've had birds I have had to swerve around... I've been able to stop next to deer, and had them look at me rather puzzled... Have to be careful in neighborhoods with children, as they don't hear me coming, either! I've beeped my horn more than once to alert kids and dogs that I'm on their street. It reminds me of electric knives. They are noisy on purpose... people would cut themselves before the companies made them noisier.
