Was stopped at a red light, about 20 cars back as usual in Albuquerque at 2:30 pm (I think nobody works here), and had been stopped for at least 10 seconds. Whammo, some kid behind us didn't stop, he said he was distracted because he spilled his Coke... more likely he spilled his Coke because he hit us. Fortunately he was only in an old Camry and bumpers matched exactly, and I don't think he was really going that fast. I couldn't even find a scratch, trunk works as usual, back doors close as usual. About time I lucked out for once!! This is the third time I've been rear-ended in Albuquerque since I've lived here, twice I was stopped dead for at least 10 seconds. Running into a car that's been stopped for 10 seconds ought to be grounds for losing your license. I really feel sorry for other poster totaled klf214, if somebody comes at you like a guided missile there's not much you can do, been there done that 6 times in 30 years of Albuquerque driving... including the lady that broadsided me when she ran the stop sign talking on her cell phone... and had a big bruise on her face from the airbag pushing the cell phone into it. Divine Justice at its best!

Pretty good considering how people drive now. I think people just have too many distractions with cell phones, ipods, Cokes, etc. I learned to drive in Simi Valley and LA area... and consider myself a good driver (much better than those that learned to drive here), and I must take defensive driving class every two years because I drive government vehicles. I could have been in a wreck a couple weeks ago when somebody ran a red light, but I waited a while after my light turned green and saw him coming. But when they're guided missiles.....

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mcbrunnhilde @ Jul 27 2007, 02:59 AM) </div> Its possible but very doubtful if the bumper cover didn't crack, I would just consider yourself lucky. I was also curious was there any noticeable damage on his vehicle.
Yesterday, on the way to work, this big blue truck tried to smush me... I was on the highway, with two vehicles on my left, and he was "merging" onto the highway... ... with a cellphone to his head, and didn't even begin to "Yield"... but, hey, he had one of those "How am I driving?" stickers, and whilst slamming on my brakes and dodging in behind the car to my left, I was able to get the number, and his code, and phone them (using my hands-free, of course)...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rae Vynn @ Jul 27 2007, 07:59 AM) </div> No apparent damage to the Camry, but I didn't look too close at his bumper. I think my Prius skidded with wheels locked around a few inches, I heard the wheels skid. Around here when vehicles have the "How's my driving" signs, one of the numbers in the phone number is always erased. Company probably gets an insurance reduction just by having the sign, even if its useless.
Whammo is not the most precise word, if the bumper suffered absolutely no damage. Maybe tick would be more descriptive?
