"While pledging to have a Nissan-developed hybrid, as well as a plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle, in U.S. showrooms in 2010, Nissan is marking time with an Altima midsize sedan powered by rival Toyota's hybrid system." http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/review...ma-hybrid_N.htm
My husband is currently working at a Nissan dealership, and he recently had the opportunity to drive an Altima Hybrid. He said there was a lot left to be desired, and that the Prius pretty much blows the AH out of the water in every category. Fit & finish, accelleratin, the instrument display, etc., were all much more well-done in the Pruis than with the AH. Just his opinion though. I haven't seen, let alone driven, an AH.

It'll get to 60mph in 3-4 seconds faster than the Prius. Also, it's supposed to be the sportiest drive (out of the Prius, TCH and even the HCH-II).
I have driven AH a couple of times. She had leather interior and I have the cloth. The steering and handling is much responsive in AH. I did not test the acceleration since she was still babying it. It is very noticeable when the gas engine comes on in the AH. The sound of the regen is also louder.
Hi: Can you tell me what kind of mileage your wife is seeing? I know the Prius would be a little bit higher. Just wondering how close to that 42/36 she is getting? I'm on the cusp between the Prius and Altima. Both have their advantages. Thanks for any input. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(usbseawolf2000 @ Jul 25 2007, 11:13 AM) </div>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mommydewdrops @ Jul 27 2007, 01:48 PM) </div> AH is my friend's car. She is getting about 35 MPG and I am getting 55.5 MPG. Her route and driving habbits are not the same so you can not compare the MPG. It would be best if you can test drive both.
