The Swiss government gave the Prius the highest green rating in a draft study evaluating the environmental impact of driving around 6,000 different cars, including carbon dioxide (C02) emissions which contribute to global warming. The Swiss government said it hopes that the list -- which is still in draft form and could be revised before it is finalized next year -- will persuade drivers to buy cars which have the lowest impact on the environment... http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?alias=swi...;modsrc=reuters

Quick. Someone better let HiLaker know. After all, he is Swiss. Hybrids wane, diesels gain as buyers weigh real-world mpg

While it still uses gas, the Prius' success has pushed automakers toward the next logical step: plug-in, and then onward to EVs. This time around I think the market is ready.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(zenMachine @ Jul 27 2007, 09:16 PM) </div> Right. Maybe it would've been better to award the Prius the world's greenest gasoline car.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(zenMachine @ Jul 27 2007, 09:16 PM) </div> I grant you that the Prius is a great car. And I agree that it has helped bring about somewhat of a turning point in the auto industry. It still sucks that eleven years since the production EVs were built, that the "best" green car we can manage to build today still requires gasoline. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(aaf709 @ Jul 29 2007, 08:02 PM) </div> That has a better ring to it, yes.
