This is obvious to anyone that squirts water onto their wind shield. But the Prius is the first car that I've seen that squirts three different places on each side of the wind shield. (Two on the back wind shield if I remember right.) All other cars I've drive have one stream that fans out.

The two cubby cavities in the rear hatch area are not the same shape and size. The one on the right, above the 12V battery, is actually larger. Perfect place for a custom sub box, I might add.

 

If you stay in EV mode for a full five minutes, the graph on the car will not show 100 mpg but no bar at all since the computer can't divide by zero gallons used.

I highly doubt that you would want an offensive version of New Zealand used on this website or anywhere else. Japanese people find that word offensive. Thanks for not using it in the future.

By the way. I think that All Priuses are made in Japan.


There is a curvy road just north of Federal Way, WA (between Tacoma and Seattle) that sometimes has no traffic and other times has a very long backup. There is probably a 500 foot elevation change over about three miles.

When it is backed up you rarely get above 5mph and there are times that I have one, two, or even three blank bar spaces as far as mpg but have had up to 5 full cars due to the regenerative breaking. That only happens when I have one blank bar.

Cool I did not know. You must be staying in EV mode and the ICE does not start durring that time. I think this is a new thing for the 2006s and later Prius. Anyway, this is all new to me I have not heard of it before. Thanks.

 

I got one that i dont think has been mentioned.

I started reading this thread to learn the extra little things about my new car - one of which was the 'Day Mode' option in the display menu on the nav.

My obscure fact: When in Night Mode (i.e. Day Mode not active) the colors of the nav system switch to a higher contrast and more night friendly Green on Black, as opposed to the normal Blue on White.

This was a wonderful thing to find, I missed things like this from my old TomTom.

 

Odd but useless fact:

Unlike most normal "Prndl" (Park Reverse Neutral Drive Low) shifted cars, when you go from Park to Drive in a Prius, the Reverse Lights at the back of the car DO NOT FLASH.

This way, a car behind you does not know if you have shifted from Drive to Park or visa versa while at a light!

Like I said, Useless fact.

Gotta wonder why Toyota didn't provide an auto shut-off feature for the interior lights in a vehicle where battery power is critical. My 04 GM truck certainly has it.

i know that area well and it is new for the 06's (well maybe 05's) because my 04 would display 99.9 mpg. (this same hill under the right circumstances would raise my overall tank mileage 2-5 mpg)

there are times when the ICE will start up but only for a few seconds. if it starts up when you are not moving, the result is the same and there is a limit (dont know what) for how far you can move and still register zero. this is something i also noticed while using drivethru's (fast food very infrequently, mostly expresso which around here is just as big as fast food)

Not saying this is possible. This in itself may be an obscure fact but on the 07' Prius if you press the 'Power' button once goes to 'Accessory' mode and pressing it again takes you to 'Ready'. So you could in fact boot the computer and get to EV mode without ever having pressed the brake and engaging the brake pump.

 

The plastic hatch tray has a rectangular opening in the center on the rear side. The opening is covered by a small plastic cap which can be easily removed. This has turned out to be ideal for running cables and wires into the tray (for amps and stuff).
