Will it REALLY make a difference? All reviews I read were positive, except the last one by an 07 Touring owner who says it made no difference. Don't want to spend close to $200 for nothing. So will it or won't it make a difference?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(PriusTouring07 @ Jul 21 2007, 11:11 PM) </div> There are literally hundreds of posts on this topic, including many from Touring owners. Most people who buy it say it makes a difference, another segment professes little to no change. I'm not a search crusader but a number of your posts would be answered by using the search button.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(PriusTouring07 @ Jul 21 2007, 08:11 PM) </div> As you must have read, the debate is endless. Most people who have the BT Tech plate seem to think it makes a difference, and most who don't want to buy one think it's a mass hallucination. Some people think the car is just fine with stock wheels and OEM tires, others think the space between the HSD and the road can be vastly improved. Personally, I noticed an immediate difference, but I don't have a Touring model.
I own an 07 Touring edition and I bought and installed the plate about three months ago, I think it was worth the small investment as far as making the car less nervous when being passed by a semi at highway speeds.
Of course, it all depends on your own perceptions in the end. If you feel that handling is not adequate and you are nervous passing semis on the highway, I think the plate would be a good investment even if it has no "real" effect on the car's handling. Even if it's all in your head, wouldn't you pay 165 dollars to give you more peace of mind? On the other hand, if you have no complaints about the cars handling (like myself) then I see no reason for you to purchase the BT plate. Personally, I have never felt the car being "nervous" going past semis up to 80mph in my 07 touring. Edited to add: I notice that the previous post was talking about being passed by a truck on the highway (and not passing a truck as I was talking about). This may change both the physical and psychological environment. I too would get nervous having a huge tractor-trailer pass me by, but thanks to my utter lack of concern for good MPG, I can't recall the last time this has happened to me.
Now that last comment made me LOL Bill... <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Bill Merchant @ Jul 23 2007, 01:59 AM) </div>
