I've had mine two years and I still get a kick out trying to optimize the mileage. You don't have to drive a Corvette fast, but you wouldn't want to dismiss speed as a selling point.
Dang! All of us (including myself), forgot about a misconception. That's the very reason I wanted to document them formally in the first place. Not being able to remember them all when confronted is a very real problem. Discussions can take an ugly turn as a result. Fortunately, this one finally hit me... ACCELERATING The contributions of MG1 during modest speed merges are rarely depicted correctly. And what happens at a more aggressive pace is counter-intuitive, something those against "full" hybrids don't ever want you to mention. Luckily, I did. The document has been updated.
I found that using the cruise control to maintain a constant speed when possable works well. Your speed is important too. Hills did not seem to make any difference on a long trip. I recently got a 600 mile tank out of mine going 60 mph with cruise controll the whole way. We stayed in the right lane and watched everyone pass by. I on occasion had to pass a truck on the upward slope of a hill. My tire pressues were factory (No higher pressures) With all this I wonder if the prius tweaks really do make a difference. Please dont run on this but I did use royal purple synthetic. I just like synthetic oil.
