I am wondering if people wouldn't mind sharing how much they paid for plates and registration. Trying to get some idea of how bad it's going to hurt.

    Thanks in advance!

Why not call your motor vehicle agency or go to their website? This is information you should have before seeing the dealer. Some dealers overstate government fees and taxes. Don't be stupid enough to pay them.

I called the Denver Motor Vehicle. Recording says they don't give registration amount over the phone. I wasn't aware I could find out this kind of info before owning the vehicle. To be clear, I paid sales tax. Just getting plates and registration now.

    Thanks.

Thanks, but I've already been there. I do not see a place to find out how much your registration is. I will be going to the DMV soon. I was hoping to how much people paid for there's. Hoping for more than one reply that includes an amount too.

    Thanks again.

Wow, you are right, the CO DMV page is quite lame. They list the things they base it on, but no clue what the rate is so I did a Google Search "Colorado Auto Registration" and found some forums where people are reporting numbers in the $150 to $200 for a late model car.

Well, my title was not ready when I arrived at the DMV. I have a new temp for 30 more days. I was unable to find out the cost. If anybody would be so kind as to share what they paid, I would appreciate it. $1550 seems wrong! What is that including?

    Thank you!!

Are you a member of AAA ?
They do all that stuff for you--MUCH better than going to DMV.

No I am not. My insurance includes a great deal of what is offered by AAA, so I don't find enough value there.

I would like to know what you paid for your registration for each of the two Prii you own. That is why I started this topic. I don't understand why I have had to ask so many times for this. Everybody and their Mother wants to discuss the price of the vehicle but the registration   , nope. I got one person to give me a number (which seems absurd) and one that did not have a number to give.

What we paid in California, $231 for license fees in my case, or what others paid in other states does not necessarily have any bearing on what Colorado is going to charge you for plates and registration.

I cannot understand why you bought the car without first knowing what your state's fees are if those are such a huge deal for you.

Thank you for posting your amount. It's not that it's a huge deal. I simply thought it would be nice to find out what other people paid. Also, $1550 had me rather freaked out, I was hoping to hear of some other (and lower :)) figures. This is my first new car. I was not aware that you could find out before hand. I haven't been able to find out how much now.

Let me reiterate that what I paid in California has no relevance to how much you will pay in Colorado. In California, license fees are assessed based upon the value of the car in lieu of a property tax. In Colorado, they are determined by the empty weight and type of vehicle.

I knew that CO was based on weight. I didn't know about CA being based on value. I did not assume that you price would be completely relevant to mine. I thought I could get a few more replies and see a trend. Guess that is not going to happen. Oh well, I'm going to the DMV soon.

^^ His was so high because he never paid the tax at the dealership, he paid it at the DMV. No registration is like $1000 unless its a lamborghini or something. In Indiana, I'm going to pay like $275 when my reg. expires in Sept.

I had the hardest time getting an answer from the Minnesota DMV or their website, in fact, they never gave me a straight answer. It seems like there needs to be more clarity in your state too. My sales tax was 1500 dollars or so (same as my fed tax credit), and I remember the plates and registration was about 300 dollars. These fees can vary greatly from state to state.

    In Idaho, I paid $39.

$34 for registration, $5 for plate transfer fee.
