5 years sounds like a realistic estimate to me. That lends a lot of credibility to me (as opposed to GM saying they'll have "real" hybrid vehicles out in 2006 or somesuch.)
But, of course, Porsche drivers are accustomed to the power and pick-up of their cars. I seriously doubt that most of them are all that concerned about the environmental aspect. I think the Cayenne commercial where the guy is revving the engine into a phone is a pretty good example of that.
