Toyota Prius Fails Georgia Emissions Test

    I live in New Jersey and any car with OBD II port just gets hooked up to their computer system, which downloads all the emissions data. They don't even use the tail pipe violation method.

    I do.. it just doesn't have to work as hard as yours :p . The Lower Fraser Valley can easily hit 30°C in the mid summer. Closer to low-mid twenties by the coast.

    I'm not sure how they do they emissions testing, but couldn't they move the shifter to "B"? I know when I use it the ICE is forced to run continuously, even when I come to a comple stop the ICE will continue to idle.

    I don't think the A/C trick would work, I use the A/C a lot here in San Antonio yet the ICE shuts off quite frequently.

    Smog check for Toyota Prius NHW 20 series:

    Activate test function and preheat engine.

    1. Do steps 2-8 in 60 seconds.
    2. Press power switch 2 times
    3. Kick down the gas pedal 2 times.
    4. Kick down brake pedal and simultaneously put gear selector to N-position
    5. Kick down the gas pedal 2 times.
    6. Keep brake pedal depressed and push park (P) switch.
    7. Kick down the gas pedal 2 times.
    8. Keep brake pedal depressed and push power switch. Engine starts. Perform smog test. Push gas pedal and you can increase engine rpm.
    9. Push power switch and engine stops.

    Do not drive car when the test mode is engaged.
