This pic was taken today after a week's vacation with the wife and kids. This is with rear seats not folded down. She told me she would only bring a FEW bags. <_<
21 boxes of laminate flooring, a stowaway ironing board cabinet and all my home care stuff and could still see out the rear view mirror. Luckily that was in the rented prius. I don't think I would put that much weight into my baby. That was with the back seats folded down. The day we picked it up we put a dewalt double bevel compound miter saw and stand in it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Family Hybrid @ Jun 30 2007, 10:28 AM) </div> I drove from San Diego to Seattle over a couple of days. I had the back seats down. I caried 2 guitars (1 acoustic, 1 electric), a small amplifier, microphone, mic stand, toolbox, 2 large suitcases and 1 carry-on suitcase, a clothes hanger rod with some jackets/coats & suits. I'd guess I was just over 1/2 full and I could stilll see clearly out the back window (the hanging clothes were restricted to the sides of the car). And the passenger seat was empty.
We just returned this afternoon from a four week camping trip from PA to the west coast-- family of four. Tents, sleeping bags and pads on the roof, everything else inside. 7,494 miles, 150.675 gallons of gas = 49.7 mpg. Prius performed flawlessly. Here is picture of all the stuff we took to the music festival in Michigan. I had my gear ready to pack and Hubby said "It will never fit! And where is your friend going to put her things?" So she arrived, put her things beside mine and we thought we'd get a picture before packing. (I KNEW it would fit! I told her she should have brought her fiddle too! We had plenty of room!)
