2006 Prius with about 10,000 miles First time the Maintenance Req'd Light started flashing was just before 5,000 miles. I took the car into my local Toyota dealer for the oil change -- Light stops flashing. Now it's 5,000 miles later, the light starts flashing, so I take my car into a local service station, change the oil. Light continues flashing. Now is on all the time. 1. I assume the local service station forgot to do something to reset the Maintenance Req'd Light? 2. Or is the reset something that has to be done by Toyota? 3. Or maybe there's something wrong with the car? Any thoughts?
nah, probably nothing wrong, they just forgot to re-set the maintenance light. take it back, nothing to it. i even seem to remember instructions on here somewhere, but that was about a year ago, and may have been for a different year model....
1. Make sure the odometer button is on the main odometer, not on A or B setting. 2. Push in and hold the ODO button as you start up the car. The odometer will blank out and a few seconds later will return. You can then release the ODO button. The MAINT REQ light will then be darkened. 3. In 4,500 miles, the light will reappear.
Instructions for re-setting the light should be in your owners manual. Or you can take it back in if that's more convenient. I agree with RangerDavid: They just forgot to re-set it.
