Sometimes, after shutting my 05 Prius Off and opening the door, I actually don't hear the pump running. As per my experience and understanding, the pumps are supposed to pump hot oil and coolant back into their thermos' to keep them warm whenever you shut off the prius, right? Maybe mine has issues or do the pumps some times come on several minutes after shutting down sometimes? :|
How long do you wait? There's usually a little delay as it wants to make sure you don't decide to restart (my guess as to why the delay). I'm pretty sure you'd get a DTC code if there was a problem.
I wait about a minute or so if I don't hear anything from the engine bay. Generally, I hear the sound right after I shut it off and open the door. For about Five seconds I hear the pump run. I am not too worried, I trust Toyota Quality!! Just something I wondered about. Thanks Evan for your stealth response
I believe nothing wrong with your PRIUS. Please refer to following information... The storage operation (after power OFF)... Start conditions: tank coolant temp. is less than 90 °C (194 °F). Engine coolant temp. > tank coolant temp. http://john1701a.com/prius/presentations/2...entation_41.htm Regards, Ken@Japan
