How many Prii did you see today? !!

Last time I counted on my commute home, it worked out to 4% of all the cars going in the other direction.

 

When I bought mine last February, I would be lucky to see 1 downtown on my commute - and no, mine doesn't count because I walk/bus or bike to work so I don't see mine every day. And that excludes the four or more I see everyday on campus which has always been a sort of a Prius breeding ground. But now, I usually see between 4 and 8 in downtown, plus the standard 4 or more around campus, which is a lot for a 30 minute, 3 mile commute. Today, I biked to work and saw 4 downtown (2 grey, one black, one red) and 2 near campus (both Blue). So 6 so far, and the day is only half done with. I am really quite impressed with how many more I see lately since the Midwest (as a whole) isn't particularly fond of Japanese vehicles or hybrids in relation to other parts of the country. In my apartment building, I use to have the only Prius (and my building has 320 units), but now two of my neighbors have bought a Prius in the last month and a half. Prii were the 9th best selling Vehicle in the US last month (6th best selling car) with 24,000 sold.

saw one today as i was leaving work... with alaska plates! there's a lady who works in the same place as my hubby who has a white prius... so is he rides with me and i drop him off... i'll see hers in the parking lot!

i don't see too many unless we head down to the low desert... they're becoming more popular.... we see a LOT more if we head to OC/"inland empire" area!

 

Pulled into a condo property in DC today, with all surface parking. (Built back in the 20's.) While searching for a space myself, I spotted 4 parked Prii; 2 classic, 2 late-model. I ended up parking behind one of the classics.

I saw three yesterday though. Including one at work. (soon to be 2. )

I pulled into the garage at work today, and there was an empty space waiting... right between a Prius and a Honda Insight. (And I passed 2 Prii on the way down the ramp.)

 

Went out for Sunday brunch. Pulled into the parking lot with my red Prius, making it four out of 42 cars in the lot. One each: red, white, blue, and silver -- Appropriate for the season!

 

oh Oh OH OH OH!

so yesterday i'm in the national Park riding my bike..... and a mag grey prius with a bike on top (roof rack) passes me and waves! i was SOOOOOOO excited! i know he waved because i was on my bike.... but i was thrilled because not only was a prius.... he was a cyclist, too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

id like to think ive spotted most every one in town ( corpus) but new ones keep popping up, especially since last month. someone in my neighborhood just came home with a black one like mine...i thought it was my wife and i was wondering why she wasnt at work...so i followed the mysterious pri until i realized i was an idiot, and that i should be at work, too.

 

I bought my Prius back in April and back then I'd be lucky to see 2 or 3 in a day and never a Seaside Pearl like I wanted. Now, I see 10 or more every day. I guess the high price of gas is driving this growth in numbers.

 

I'm not exaggerating - I run my experiments at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, and about 10 - 20% of the cars here are all prii.

 

Oh, today we went to our local grocery store, and when we came out, there was another Super White Prius parked right next to ours!

It had the SKS, no backup camera, was a base model (by the wheels), but has some sort of Roadside Assistance sticker.

I could almost hear the two of them, whispering to each other...

If you were in Aberdeen, at Top Foods, and you drive a white Prius... HI!

Okay, today we saw a light grey Prius from California!
We waved... the driver didn't see us (he may have been slightly lost...after all, he was in Hoquiam!)

Tomorrow, we plan on going to Portland, to the Mothership Powell's bookstore! I imagine that we will see LOTS and LOTS of Prii!

 

Easily a dozen a day to and from work.

 

Okay, besides a blue one on the street, and a pretty grey one that we followed out of the Powell's mothership parking garage in Portland, we might have seen 6 on the highways going to and from Portland today.

I was amazed! I expected more. Really.

We did have lunch at a fabulous Vegan place, the Blossoming Lotus, on Davis, between 9th and 10th... incredible food.

 

I thought I was weird, counting Prii. Starting a topic in an online discussion group ????
