My Silver Pine just turned 200... 200 miles, and I've had it less than 2 weeks. I'm not a high-mileage driver. So far, I have 38.4 mpg, hopefully I'll getter better mileage as it breaks in, but I'm also sure the number of short drives I make is dragging it down. Anyway, everyone tells me what a great color it is. I love how the color almost changes depends on how the light is hitting it, it can be anywhere from a light green to what I can only describe as a silver with a green glow to it.
IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE! At last, my wunnerful Pine Mica Silver Prius is in our garage! Luv at first, second and third sight, fer shore!!! Verdi is his name - "green" in Italian, and the last name of our favorite opera composer. Got package #2 with mats and leather upholstery - and the leather is just plain grand! My first leather-fitted car in about 20 years. Only problem we face is alignment - it pulls hard to the right, so I have to take it back to Ft. Myers Toyota and get it tweaked and twisted to specs. No big deal, though - just life. Anyway - we're very happy with the car - and the fact that we now can be OFFICIAL members of this esteemed PINE MICA SILVER CLUB!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IowaPrius @ May 2 2007, 03:12 PM) </div> The SPM was my first choice, battling it out with close runner-up Seaside Pearl -- but with the Silver Pine I could play with all sorts of personalized plate options. The one DMV allowed me to have: I GREEN (My mom took one look and said, "I don't get it. Is your car green?" Sigh.)
Let's see now, is the handshake the one where you curl three fingers down, and then make the sign of the Southern Cross constellation as you chant: "green is great, green is great?" Is that the secret handshake? If so, whew! It's HARD to do! (GRIN) Verdi resides peacefully in the garage, awaiting a return trip to Ft.Myers Toyota in the morning. Poor thing's alignment is all out of whack, and you know how painful that can be! Sigh. Loving the car - though I must admit that my wife and I will be tearing into the doors, to replace all the speakers - gradually. The front tweeters seem the worst offenders - so we'll try to get some good guidance from Crutchfield. They've been BIG help to us in past car "tear-downs." Tinkering with the idea of a vanity plate - but we can't agree, so will put that on a back burner for now. And just "drive the car." Yep. . . .life can be purty good.
Haha. I'm just happy to get my regular plates on the car. I don't think I'm quite cool enough for personalized plates.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(SweetPri @ Jun 27 2007, 04:10 PM) </div> Yep, and we gotta send out Invoices for this month's dues.....     Welcome to all you SPM Prius drivers!! you picked the BEST color!!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Treetune @ May 14 2007, 05:00 AM) </div> Treetune, Hey. I got the same thing, SPM with package #2, except I got the touring edition. And I'm on day five of ownership. Our cars probably rolled off the assembly line in Japan on the same day. How hard was it to find package #2? In the Chicago area, none of the dealers had #2 - it was all base, #5 and #6, even in the non-touring. Special ordered mine, and love it - wonderful car. Welcome, enjoy the car, and be sure to let everyone here know what mods you do to it, and how they work out. Regards,
I was stopped at a traffic light today and noticed a car to my right and thought "hey, that's a nice looking car." It turns out it was my own Silver Pine Mica being reflected in a very clean dark-mirrored building!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(nytimez @ Jun 8 2007, 12:02 AM) </div> I'm seeing SPM's all over!! I guess it doesn't help that here in Newport, Prii are a dime a dozen. I love it! Hope you get yours soon
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Wryter @ Jun 27 2007, 09:47 PM) </div> Well, now we hafta change it... it's supposed to be a SECRET handshake, after all..... (I don't mind; I never could quite get the hang of the 'Southern Cross' thing) DuPree welcomes Verdi to the wonderful world of SPM; we are very fortunate Prii indeed, to be graced with such a magnificent color! Only VERY special Prii are so blessed. All the rest get the other colors
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(You me and da Pri @ Jul 3 2007, 09:16 AM) </div> Yes, I agree that an alternate handshake must be agreed on by the Pine Mica Silver Prius Club. I shall bow to the membership's wishes on this. (grin) And have y'all noticed? It is VERY hard to keep from feeling just plain SUPERIOR when driving your wonderfully-tinted car around the streets? Other colors seem so, well, effete! (triple grin) BTW - Verdi got a re-name. Sigh. My artist-wife, Merri, decreed that "duh car" was a SHE, not a HE, and thus needed a more apt name. Double sigh. finally came up with an acceptable moniker: "Cara Verdi," which in very loose translation from the Italian, means "my dear green one." Cara Verdi "she" shall ever be. My wife is German/Norwegian. One NEVER argues with those people! (double grin) So far, had to have the car re-aligned, and they have to rip out and replace the larger section of the rear seat. Bad leather job. Aside from that - luv and first, second and third sight!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Wryter @ Jul 3 2007, 10:06 AM) </div> Well, I decided DuPree was a 'he'. DH calls it a she sometimes, but he just doesn't know where to look... I deal with Germans, Austrians, and Finns (pretty close to Norwegians) in my job. I know exactly what you mean - no arguing with 'em. Besides, you can just call it Verdi in private. Uh... does anyone else do what I do? When I go to the garage in the morning, the first thing I do is say "Good Morning, DuPree!" He never answers, but he smiles back every time!
if anyone still has a color brochure of the 2004 Prius you will notice that the current SPM looked identical to the representation of the Tidelands Pearl (which i chose because it was same color as my bike). as we all know, Priuses were scarce and there was no actual demo model to look at so i was more than a little surprised when i finally saw one in the wild. well my Tidelands was mugged by a Ford F 350 and has past on. so now my 2006 SPM STILL does not match my bike because the SPM bike has been handed down...oh well. still happy with my color choice. only took 4 years and $50,000 to get it (2 new car purchases)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DaveinOlyWA @ Jul 3 2007, 02:01 PM) </div> Here are a couple of pics of TIDELAND PEARL Prius: [attachmentid=9405] [attachmentid=9406] I think it is quite a bit darker green than the Silver Pine Mica:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(FloridaWen @ Jul 3 2007, 12:23 PM) </div> you think?? since i owned one for 2½ years, i would have to concur... i guess i have to ask you.... how well do you think the color on the 2004 brosure match up with the real thing?
Garage. Morning. Coffee in hand. Car, uh, "Cara Verdi" sits silently, waiting. . . . I look. She looks back. Smiles. Yep. Smiles. Look at your Prius. Front end. Morning. Tell me your Prius isn't smiling! Eh? No words need be said. They'd be meaningless. Open the door. Sit slowly. Feel the luv. I dare you not to smile along with your beloved Prius!
After several weeks of waiting, I finally got mine!! Will post a pictures soon. Pkg #3 w/ bisque leather interior. Love it so far!! One problem...the glove box light won't go off when the box is closed...guess I have to swing by the dealership to have that looked at. Can't wait for my husband to return from Europe to see her!!!!
