things I wished my bluetooth connection would do

I have a t-mobile RAZR 3T, which is a much improved version over the old razr. One of the things they did better with this version is voice dialing. No more of that recording a name crap (which forced you to use the phone memory instead of the safer (and more portable) SIM card memory). Now, you simply say the name that is stored and 95% of the time, it will dial it. Once in a while it asks you "did you mean...". Both of my bluetooth headsets will work with this feature. Just hit the dial button and you hear the phone say "say the name". I really really wish the Prius bluetooth would use it as well, but as far as I can see, it does not.

Also, I get signal strength on the prius screen, but no battery meter. It is there, but with no reading. No big deal, but since it's there...

Lastly, I don't get caller ID on the screen unless it is a name I uploaded (one entry laboriously at a time) to the prius.

    Can't have everything I guess

I have a Sanyo Katana and I also don't get a battery meter if I turn on the phone and it's in roam. If, when the car pairs with the phone, I'm not in roam I get a battery strength. Very odd indeed.

I was able to upload my entire phonebook to the car using the directions in the manual. Wonder why you had to one entry at a time? Maybe it's a phone thing. The caller ID is the same for me.

The caller ID number, as opposed to the name, displays only when the car is not moving.

When the number is loaded into the car's phone book it will.

They may have changed it since I got my car, but mine will display the name only (from the car's phone book) while the car is in motion. The numerals appear only when the car is stopped.

heh, you and I had this same convo before - mine will do it no matter if the car's in motion or not. I don't get it since mine's totally stock except for a DICE kit and I know that it can't make a difference.

I know that it will show the name if it is entered into the car's phone book. My phone, however, shows caller ID for any call and, on one of my bluetooth headsets that has a screen on the side (don't ask), that information is passed along as well.

The car does not do this, moving or not.

Given that there is no actual phone in the Prius, it seems to me that this system is a bit intrusive. Let the damn phone handle the stored numbers, speed dial, etc.. Half the time, I end up using my phone to dial the number just to avoid doing it through the Prius.

And don't get me started on all these safety features. I can understand not letting one mess with the route planning on the GPS while the car is moving. But, I can't be trusted with song titles scrolling on the radio? If you select an icon (restaurant, gas station, etc..) on the GPS, it will show you the information it has on that business. It won't give you the phone number until you park. Screw you car, you aren't my mom!
