    My best MPG (73.4) and tank miles (851) yet.

    [attachmentid=8313]

    All in urban/inner city driving, 18 miles one way, 20 miles the other. Filled up this morning with 11.6 gallons.

    I think I'll claim this month from the hypermiler guys in the Old Dominion State, and also announce my retirement from the unofficial competition. With my car going into the body shop next week and some ChicagoPriusGroup events coming up, no way can I pull these numbers for a while.

    DUDE, I'm with you on this, I feel the same way. it's like i'm in a totally different world now. Instead of being pissed that i'm out of gas, I'm excited to document my awesome FE. My stress level has dropped seriously. Especially with the traffice in los angeles, any reduction in stress while driving is needed.

    Watch out for that last blinking bar. When going thru Nashville, TN, I had 2 bars starting in; but coming out and going up a hill, the buzzer rang, last bar flashed and 20 seconds later we ran out of gas. Temp was 91 degrees.
    Was able to get out of the 4 lanes with the electric. When we got gas, the Prius took 10.7 gals. I'm told that everything checks out fine, so must have been combination of heat and the hill.

    I have only had my Prius for about 2 months and I am getting better mileage then I ever expected.

    I have seen multiple posts of super high gas mileage and I didn't really believe it was possible until now.

    I have consistantly seen over 50mpg tanks since I got my car and now with this tank I am at 363 miles and an average of 60.5mpg and I still have the other half to finish.

    Sorry about the quality of the pic its from my camera phone.

    I haven't gone through a whole tank yet. When I was 248 miles into my very first tank, I noticed that I had forgotten to reset one of the settings on my Scanguage2 so I decided to start over by topping off. I was only able to squeeze 3.3 gallons in for 75.1 mpg and the temp was over 80F so I'm certain that the bladder wasn't shrunk. Anyway, I'm currently at 568.0 miles with 4 pips left and the FCD is showing 73.4. With under 1K miles on the car I can't wait to see what it will do when everything gets broken in.

    I filled up yesterday at 669.8 miles and I was only able to stuff 9.321 gallons into the tank on a 90*F day for 71.8 mpg

    Ahhhhhhh,

    I finally hit my obsessive goal ... with 2 pips to go ! !

    [attachmentid=8800]

    It took nearly 3 years, but I finally got the hang of it. I've got an uphill trip now, on the way home, w/ 250lbs of cargo while I finish the tank ... so even tho I'll do more miles, the MPG is going to take a hit.

    I'm still satisfied :D

    Excellent, dude! That's a helluva tank. I'm with you on the conditions thing. My trip to work 4 days a week is 2.5 miles. Best I've done is 55 MPG on that run. I won't even get into stage 4 in the winter. No gliding the whole way. LOVE to install a block heater, but I live in an apartment. Sometimes I have to park in the street. No way to plug it in. I'm gonna block the grills, but that's about all I can do. My numbers are gonna suck.

    Great job hill! But you'll just become more obsessed with going for the 800 mile tank.

    Thanks!

    Naaah, my wife only let me borrow the garage (to keep the car warmer at night) for the 3 weeks it took to run the tank out. Plus, taking the non-freeway route to work, during the 19 mile trip, takes an extra 20 minutes (thus my trip takes 45 minutes in stead of 25 minutes) each way. The savings was nice but the lost time of 200 minutes per week was time cost prohibitive.

    800 mile tank? At 225 lbs, I think my weight makes that impossible. Have any of the 800 mile tank folks weighed over 200? I figure the best I could have gotten would have been 75mpg ... in a perfect world.

    Dang it, Wayne, somehow I missed this when you first posted it. Congratulations!!! (You did see that one of those Old Dominion boys' calculated MPG was 73.8, didn't you?? :D )

    Anyway, congrats to all here. There's some pretty awesome numbers going around. Awesome job by everyone!

    Lately I ve gone a bit over the top by purchasing a scientifically standardized 2 litre flask to check my consumption figures. I found gas pumps are inconsistent at measuring volume and the point at which the over-flow/safety-cutout kicks in... so at home my pearl silver sweety sits in the same position at each refill (slightly 'nice person up' at the gas cap) and I manually deliver a FULL load in 2 litre increments. Yes this is tedious, unnecessary and more than a little obsessive-compulsive... but I won't be doing it in the long term... ;) ANYHOW, best consumption has been 22.8 km/L OR 4.39 L/100km OR 64.4mpg(imp.) OR 53.6mpg(U.S.). Best range before last indicator bar flashed was 1147km OR 712miles. I think my tank will hold almost 55L OR 14.5 gall (U.S.).

    This may not beat the actual EPA numbers, but this is a personal best for one day's commute. I started with a full tank this morning, and this is the end of the round trip. Both city and highway, including a rather tall hilltop (I work on top of a mountain):
    [IMG]

    Oh, and that mileage is with two, 200 lb + people commuting in the Prius. Okay, so between him and me, it's closer to, um, 500 lbs of passenger load.

    what does 35 percent engine load mean? i would love to get up to 70. i notice i can get easily over 50mpg in the city because i can do a lot of gliding and using the battery but on the highway i am always using the gas which brings the mpg down..

    I filled up Friday night after 701.6 miles and used 9.22 gallons for 76.1 mpg. The guage went down to 2 pips ~10 miles before I filled so I'm fairly sure I could have went 800 miles and probably even 900. :eek:

    [attachmentid=9208]I've been having a ball since I discovered this and similar sites a couple of months ago. I had broken into the low 60s (MPG) just by intuition, but the specific P & G techniques, and the technical description of the temperature stages, the relationship among ICE, MG1 & MG2 etc have been real eye-openers. Thanks!

    I now have 2200 miles on my 07 and have averaged 57 mpg. I was a conservative driver before the Prius. I drive mainly 65 mph with some city. For me it was much more a spiritual choice and about my responsibility to the planet. I feel so at peace when I'm driving almost like not driving. The 2 factors that appear to affect my mileage the most are wind and rain. Take Care
