I am in manhatten NYC now picking up my fiance. At a stop light, a motorcycle (not a race bike....commuter sit up type) reverse right next to my window and asked how many mpg I am getting. I read out from my MFD, 56.5 mpg. Then I asked him how much he is getting. He said 52 mpg. The light turned green and we took off. I feel GOOD!!!

Tell us your feel good moments.

For me it is the 60mpg tanks and when I broke the 50mpg lifetime barrier.

Just this evening I was stealthing through the parking lot at work. It's a large parking lot.

A couple friends were standing and talking. I stopped and chatted with them for a while. Then one said, "wait a minute, is your car running?" I replied, "well, it's 'on' but the engine's not running." He looked puzzled so I punched on the radio. Still not convinced I hit the [Auto A/C] button and the cold air started blowing.

I explained the battery stuff and I think he finally got it. At that moment, the ICE kicked in so I explained that it had come on to help charge the battery. Then it shut off again.

This prompted him to ask about mileage. I changed screens and showed him 66.0MPG after 626 miles. They just started laughing in disbelief.

The kicker: both of these guys were in my recent Six Sigma classes and we're working on our projects concurrently. One of them had a copy of "The Toyota Way" tucked under his arm.

I sold off the 350 putt-putt after realizing that the *car* was
getting better MPG, even if it wasn't nearly as capable in the woods..

I like stealthing down my street and into the garage, and the loudest thing I can hear is the brake pads contacting the rotors. B)

I like pulling into Costco for gas and getting a comment like "here he is for his bi-annual fill-up"; that is good for a laugh and quick conversation about the 50+ MPG I get.

I love it when some of my know-it -all friends and their friends as me "Where and how often do you have to plug it in?" I have had fun making up long drawn out explanations about it.

I also love the stealth mode. I love it when I ramble up to a pedestrian and they double take - once for the car and once for my little 3.5 lb black Chihuahua that "drives the car" while sitting in my lap. She usually sits in the passenger seat, but loves to see above the steering wheel when in stealth mode, especially at a store parking lot.

Hey - what is that blue blinker light - I want one.

I was fueling at a Shell about 2 weeks ago when the guy behind me asked what mileage I was getting. I told him my last tank was 52.7. He said his buddy has a Honda Civic Hybrid and is getting 55 mpg most of the time both city and highway. He said that the guy wanted to get a Prius, but decided on the Civic as it is more 'consistent' in it's mileage. I advised him that my 52.7 was mostly highway driving with very little city.

My feel good moment came when one of the office staff show me and my partner pulling into the carpark, as I glided in he was walking by, some time latter he had a conversation with my partner saying how i had stalled the car when parking it this morning, But she explained that I hadnt its the stealth mode of the car. Needless to say the conversation soon changed :D

When my friends asked me about my recent 3.9L/100km average and beating Transport Canada's rating for 4.0L/100km in the city.

I think its even more notable that I haven't had a single feel-bad moment associated with the car.

One of my more recent momements happened this past Friday as we were heading south on I93 to Boston for the True Colors Tour concert. It is motorcycle weekend here in New Hampshire and around the Plymouth area on 93, they had a bunch of state troopers stopping every car headed south to inspect for any signs of drinking while driving. Well when I pulled up, my Prius captured the attention of 3 of the State Troopers. They wanted to know what my MPG was. I told them avg 57 mpg. They cheered me on stated that they were glad to have me pull up as my vehicle was the quietest one that they have heard in a long time. :)

Me too. although I've gotta stay out of the throttle to keep the two wheeler over 40.

I very often get people walking up asking questions when I am gassing up. "Does it *really* get good mileage"? Things like that. I often point them to this forum if they have serious questions about hybrids. You just cannot believe the bullfeathers that people hear about them.

Dear Hubby and I stopped in at a street rod show on Saturday.
He was talking to an acquaintance about our new Prius, and a passerby overheard.
Next thing you know, I'm showing off our Prius to her in the parking lot!
    She was very impressed...

My shiny car was right up there with all the shiny street rods :D

My wife and I walked out to the Prius in the parking lot of a grocery store, climbed in, and backed out silently. Through the closed glass of the driver's side window I could lip-read the question from a woman standing next to us by her SUV, punctuated by the look of amazement on her face: "Is it electric?!?" I smiled and nodded. It was good.

My GF and I were stopped at a garage sale. An older guy driving a Land Rover Discovery starts questioning me.

Him:"What kind of mileage does that thing get? I'm only getting 10.5 mpg with the Land Rover"

Me: "I'm getting about 47 or 48 overall, but the engine is still breaking in with less than 5k on it (this was a month or two ago).

Him: "I'm getting 10.5 mpg. How much did that cost?"

Me: "Its the fully loaded model with leather seats. The sticker price was $29.5 but I paid $26.5"

Him: "That's not bad, I paid a lot more for the Land Rover, but I'm only getting 10.5 mpg. Can you believe that?"

On my way to Berlin, on the Polish autotrade route (lots of Polish car traders buy second hand cars in the West, Germany, Belgium, Holland and sell them in Poland and farther to the East). Very few Prii in Germany, I was the only one around.

There was a huge traffic jam on the highway, start/stop traffic. Suddenly someone tapped on the window. A Polish car trader had gotten out of his van (towing a car on a trailer) to ask me how much one of these cars is. They had been watching me and discussing the car for a while, thinking there might be a market for them in Poland.
