okok, I usually don't get this excited (esp. after 2½ years) but this I had to share. I travelled 102 kms today, 100% city driving, P&G like my life depended on it (mostly cause it was middle-of-day traffic and I chose my routes carefully so I could P&G and not piss people off) and my net mileage is 3.7L/100km!! (That's 64mpg!). I saw a low of 3.4L/100km (69mpg) and a high of 4.0L/100km (59mpg). Now... if I can hold it through the weekend B)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tideland Prius @ Jun 14 2007, 11:45 PM) </div> There is nothing like getting a full tank and being able to hold upper 60's / low 70's for a length of time I once was able to hold mine above 65 for about 3 days (180 miles and after that I ended up doing whatever I could to maintain above 60. But the challenge makes driving quite fun.
Tideland and I have been on this board for a long time together so I think of it as pure light-hearted competition when I say that after 650 miles, tomorrow I'm going to post my first 66+ MPG tank. Any minute now, I expect FireEngineer to post his latest 73+ tank. Gotta love those warm temps!!
and jimboK will post his 85-er, and of course xcel will just max the meter on the CLASSIC he's been tooling around in. . *sigh* Maybe if they just closed all the interstates for, I do not know, tax purposes or something. . _H*
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Jun 15 2007, 06:37 PM) </div> lol. I don't know if I'll ever reach 1000kms+. I'm hoping for 900kms this time. Update: 250kms and 3.8L/100km. I'm oh so close to the 3.9L/100km border . I saw 3.9 twice today. Ugh. The weekend probably won't help... Must... keep...below.. 4L/100km.... jeez... people must think I'm nuts
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(morpheusx @ Jun 15 2007, 05:25 PM) </div> My average mpg has always been killed by short trips. When I lived in Fargo, my commute was under 4 miles in 10 minutes, each way. Here in Spokane, I got good mph going downtown (a 25-minute drive, more or less) but there were always those short trips to the grocery store on days I didn't go any farther. Real mpg-killers. When I got the Xebra I figured my mpg would go way up because I'd never make the short trips in the Prius. But what I didn't take into account was that I'd also never make the long in-town trips where the Prius really shines. I only drive it on the freeway now, maybe 3 days a month. So my mpg will never be stellar. The positive side to all this is that while my average mpg is poor (for a Prius) my total gasoline consumption has always been low, because I just don't drive many miles. I've just hit 20,000 miles, and I've had the car since January of 2004.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(cyrus69 @ Jun 16 2007, 10:59 AM) </div> Nope. I'm now sitting at 3.9L/100km (almost at 4L/100km cause I saw that number today) and 295kms.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daniel @ Jun 16 2007, 05:49 AM) </div> Yep. Driving from one end of Spokane and back is where I get my best mileage. You need to waste gas by taking your Prius on cross town trips, just so you can improve its mileage. Dave M.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Jun 16 2007, 06:48 PM) </div> I haven't refuelled yet. 4.0L/100km and 619.8kms.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tideland Prius @ Jun 21 2007, 12:04 AM) </div> 58.8mpg and 385 miles for us South of the border folks.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tideland Prius @ Jun 16 2007, 01:39 AM) </div> Not at all TP. If you are nuts, then I must be somewhere in the vicinity as well. Ever since the good weather arrived, I've been getting some really good tanks... the last ones have been below 4.0l/100km tanks. The 2007 Prius is definitely wanting to sing below 4.0l/100km. It is a pity though, because now it became a company vehicle and other people get to drive it too, otherwise the mileage would be even better that what I've been getting. Awesome work !! Cheers; MSantos
This aint fair!!! I'm stuck doing 15 and 20 min, 9 mile trips to and from work. We should include a times restarted/tank figure h34r:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(efusco @ Jun 21 2007, 06:43 AM) </div> 385 miles is a far cry from you and Tony <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(MSantos @ Jun 21 2007, 06:54 AM) </div> wow! but.. Manitoba is flat-ish right? I guess the Prairies is equivalent to Florida and Texas. You guys have the best mileage of the country. (although Frank seem to be able to get 4.0L/100km IIRC).
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tideland Prius @ Jun 20 2007, 10:04 PM) </div> That is extremely impressive considering all the crazy hills we have all over the place. I've gotten 3.5L/100km before, but that was only over 30km from Aldergrove to the Port Mann Bridge. Props to you, sir!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tideland Prius @ Jun 21 2007, 09:50 AM) </div> Darn right it is flat. But unlike for our friends in Texas and Florida, the Prius takes a serious FE dive in the winter - it is amazing how lowsy the FE becomes when the ICE runs all the time, heh? On the bright side of it, just looking at the signature mileage graphs makes you want to laugh at the average roller coasters. So... now it's time to "eat my cake" and enjoy it while it lasts. Cheers; MSantos
This was my best tank yet. I filled up on Saturday with 10.3 Gallons. I have a 30 mile commute to work. I P&G on my way to work and I drive the highway home about 65mph with the AC on which takes my average down a little but I always make it up the next day on the way to work. I was trying for 800 miles to this tank but I was 20 miles into the flashing gas gauge and I had too much driving to do and I didn't want to chance it. Maybe Next week when I get back for my trip to Texas I will be able to get my 800 mile tank [attachmentid=9093]
