I want to add Video iPod Integration to my 2007 Prius Pkg#3. Ultimately I want to be able to use the iPod from the Steering Wheel and MFD as well as have the Video iPod pipe A/V output to the MFD thus negating the need for a DVD player ;)

I have found 2 devices that appear to do what I am seeking

    The SoundLinQ2 SL2i at http://www.vaistech.com/home.html

    and

    The DICE unit at http://priuschat.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/66

I've seen topics on both units but was wondering if anyone had experience with both and a Pros/Cons opinion of each unit.

I'm guessing I'll also need the Ultimate Lockpick3 (http://www.coastaletech.com/lockpick3.htm) too. Are there other alternatives to Lockpick3?

One other factor to consider is that I also would like to add Sirius as well.

If I go with this unit http://priuschat.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/83 for Sirius, is there any other hardware necessary to get Sirius to work? If I went with the Vaistech solution for Sirius I have to spend $229-$299 and still purchase the Direct Electronics Sirius Tuner separately.

    Any thoughts/opinions/experiences are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks B)

I've had 3 Dice units and all defective. the last two have cratered my MFD. I am going to send the 3rd one back and try to get a refund. I will be trying the VAIS next and let you know how it works.

I put in the VAIS Technology unit last Friday and have not had any problems so far. It also gives much better control of the iPod via the MFD than the DICE did - it simply wouldn't allow you to control music via the MFD. The only downside to the VAIS is that you cannot control the iPod from it's click wheel when it is hooked up to the VAIS. One HUGE advantage is that you can update the VAIS from a laptop using a $49 USB connector that hooks to the iPod cable - do you don't have to remove the unit from the dash to update the firmware, unlike the DICE.

Also, I doubt you would be able to get video from the iPod to the MFD no matter which unit you use. You should recheck the source of info that says you can do that - I have an iPod video unit I bought this w/e and there is no option that I can see that pipes video to the MFD. The MFDs simply aren't set up to be video screens, and it would be dangerous and stupid to have a tele in the front seat of any vehicle. Remember, the # 1 cause of accidents? Driver inattention, by far. What do tele's and phones etc do? They distract you. You can ask my late girlfriend, Kathy, if you can channel her. She died talking on the phone whilst driving.

Hope that helps, and sorry if I sound like I'm preaching, but we would all be grateful if more people would leave their tele's at home and watch them there so we can all get where we are going safely.

That's not 100% accurate about the video - DICE sells a cradle that will allow you to OUTPUT video, but we won't sell you anything to INPUT the video to the screen. That would make us liable since the driver is watching video while driving is indeed a dangerous thing.

The Vais unit's integration to the MFD prohibits certain features while the vehicle is moving over 3MPH.

I have the original VAIS unit (not the S2), and, while I am very satisfied with it I am disappointed that it forces you to use playlists and that you cannot select (via the MFD) artist->album->song.

What functions are limited about 3MPH? I assume you can still change play lists and such.
