I have checked the Toyota website, and it says you can get a Prius ECO-nomic savings bonus from $600-$2000 depending on the package you buy. Anyone have any experince with this?
My dad is trying to get a prius and is being told that Toyota offers no such thing. Of course their is only one dealer where he lives...so, go figure.
    Any help would be great!

UGH! don't get me started on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [IMG]

ok.... too late! the dealers here in socal JACKED UP THE PACKAGE MSRP's! so when you get your so-called bonus... it brings the sticker price back down the the REAL toyota MSRP!

yep.... real SHIESTERS (spelling) those dealers are! [IMG]

go build the car at toyota's site.... you see the REAL MSRP.... then go on a dealer's lot and they will show the jacked up (ours was jacked up by $2000) THEN the eco-nomic bonus!

i went round and round on this on the phone with both dealerships AND toyota.... the dealership SUCK!

ugh..... ok.... off my soapbox now!

After all the BS, did you finally get the bonus? I haven't inquired here about it(dallas), but he lives in MO and they are saying they don't know what he is talking about...nothing exists. He even took the printout from the toyota site and their still not recognizing it....he is considering driving to Dallas to get the Prius, better selection and more wiggle room with the dealer.

After much back-and-forth with our dealer, they wouldn't budge from the sticker price. But the sticker price that we ended up paying did include the mark-down for the ECO-nomic bonus ($800 in our case, package #4).

Do be careful, though--the sticker itself may or may not reflect the bonus. We saw three types of stickers. The first type shows the full price of the package (the price the package would cost if no bonus were applied) and does not include any line item for the bonus, resulting in a price for the car that is too high. The second type shows the same full price for the package, with a separate line item for the bonus, resulting in the correct price for the car. The third type shows a lower price for the package (as if the bonus had been applied to the package price), with no separate line item for the bonus, resulting in the correct price for the car. Before going to the dealer, you should look up the package prices and applicable bonus amounts so you can tell which type of sticker you are looking at. If it is the first type described above, insist that the dealer double-check to make sure that the bonus has been applied. We did this, and the dealer found out that the bonus hadn't been taken into account on the sticker, and he deducted the appropriate amount from the price.

    well..... not sure really???????????

i mean, we paid under sticker......... i don't have the paperwork with me so don't have the amount handy but can look this evening..... it was in the ballpark of what most others here in socal are paying more than a couple less then several.... it was also the lowest price any of the other internet quotes we got AND they had the color we wanted.......)

if i remember correctly.... actual price would have been at or just below supposed invoice if the TRUE MSRP and incentive had been applied....

    stupid dealerships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [IMG]

That is what ours looked like. I didn't realize it was all a marketing ploy.

It is a discount, off the MSRP of the car. It is clearly marked on the window sticker from the factory. This all began in April, it's duration is indefinite, and most all cars on the lot should now reflect it on the sticker. Hopefully you won't be paying anywhere near MSRP.
