I have a friend at a dealership selling me the XM kit for the Solara for under $300. This is a lot lower than priusXM or Coastal Dave. Strangely, Toyotapart.com lists the solara kit at $562 discounted to $450. This is for part number PT546-06040. When it arrives, I'll let everyone know if I got the whole kit for that price, and if it works in the Prius. If there is enough interest, I'll try to arrange a group buy, I think I might get close to $250. Nate
That's more in my price range! If you can get it to work, I'd be interested in a group buy. Good luck, Nate!
Whoah, great news Nate. Perhaps Toyota is dropping their price in expectation of XMDirect? I kinda doubt it, though.
I will report more info AFTER I install the kit successfully in about a week and a half. Don't get too excited yet, the Solara kit may not be all that's needed. (Coastal Dave? Jon? Are you out there? Care to comment?), heck, maybe I ordered the wrong part number... If I do arrange a group buy, I would offer no instructions or support or returns (except maybe for defective kits, if any). Keep in mind this installation is not trivial! For that matter, does anyone have XM instructions they point me too? It would be faster not to have to figure everything out on my own! (I don't want Jon or Dave's instructions, it's unfair to give that away to a non-paying customer such as myself). Nate
naterprius, you may just talk to coastal dave directly, the feeling I have gotten over the past 6 months on PC is that his is site is not primarily a financial endevour so much as just wanting to make things better for prius owners.
