Re: Los Angelinos park for free! I cannot say that I am surprised. I am printing a copy of the mayor's press release and am planning on leaving it on the dashboard when I am parked at a meter.
it says you need the sticker first before you can park for free Man I love LA. 8) 1 Person Carpool and Now I can park for Free. (Tears of Joy) I love LA, but more important, I love the Prius.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TimeFor\";p=\"43109)</div> No need for a sticker at this point. It says, "Initially, hybrid owners will not need to do anything different to take advantage of the policy Parking enforcement officers will be trained to recognize hybrid vehicles and will simply not cite owners of such vehicles for not paying at parking meters. However, vehicle owners will still be required to comply with posted time limits. In addition, if the State of California and DMV decide to include hybrids as Clean Air Vehicles, then hybrid owners would need to receive a sticker from the DMV to qualify for free parking, just as electric and natural gas vehicle owners do." If it works out and they accpet them as Clean Air Vehicles we MAY be able to park for free at LAX. That would be amazing.
Anyone know how far this extends? Los Angeles city only or the county? Santa Monica? West Hollywood? The Valley?
Only within the city limits of Los Angeles. Unincorporated County areas, no; Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, etc., no. San Fernando Valley, mostly yes, but not in the independent municipalities such as Calabasas, Burbank and Glendale. One way of figuring it out is by the police force that patrols the area. If it is the LAPD, you are likely to be within the city limits.
