    Just did the math --

    First 9,000 miles -- mixed driving 75% Highway, 25% Local. 45.63471.

Not using any hypermiling techniques -- Just driving the car.

Of more interest to us geeks -- My 10 Tank Averages range from about 42mpg in the winter to about 46-47 mpg around now -- have only had the car since Sep, so I haven't had a summer yet.

    High Tank -- 59.1 mpg
    Low Tank -- 38.2 mpg

Not surprisingly, these were actually two consecutive fill-ups, meaning, I was probably a gallon short of full on the high tank, and had a service station top it off on the low tank.

Single tank numbers are very jagged -- again, depends on how full the tank is. The 10 Tank averages produce a nice curve.

Data provided for anyone who cares.

    My Speed --

Highway -- flow of traffic in the slow/middle lane. Call it 60ish, except when there are traffic jams (which are not uncommon)

While not having as many miles on my car, in about four 35 mile trips to DC and back at 65 mph I have 52-53 mpg (all this may with 44/44 psi) using cruise control.

So I'm a bit surprised at your numbers

Sounds about right, your tires are inflated more than mine. When I've done an entire tank highway, I'm usually 50-52. Which probably means I'm right around 40mph for local/driving around town/short trips, etc.

Also, we had a good chunk of driving in the winter, which steals a few mpg on average.

    As they say YMMV

ok yes that does sound about right, I just got mine on April 29th. So I haven't driven in winter.
