My sales person told me today that Toyota's college grad program cannot be used towards the purchase of a Prius. Is this true?? It seems rather absurd to me! :cussing: Why would Toyota not encourage recent college grads to make better, more environmentally friendly decisions regarding their vehicles?

Maybe the Prius is selling so well that they want to get as much money as they can from each car.

This is not true at all. I bought my Prius a little over 2 weeks ago and I got the new graduate discount. $400 rebate at the time of sale.

When I bought my Prius in February I got the college grad $400 rebate at North Attleboro Toyota in Mass.

    Update

This program is both nationwide and available for all Toyota vehicles.

My salesperson "made a mistake."

Just to cofirm, this $400 off is only if you finance through Toyota Financial Services, correct?

I'd be very interested if I could get it with out using Toyota financing. Also, does every dealer have to offer it? What was your experience heliotropehead?
    thx.

I'm not sure if you have to finance through Toyota or not. That's a good question. I called all the important Toyota 800 numbers and got the same answers from every single one. It is a nationwide program offered by Toyota and is available for every Toyota vehicle including the '05 Prius. After both the replies on this forum and said phone calls I contacted my sales person and told him I expected him to apply this to my purchase. And he did. :)
Persistence & research pay off big when purchasing a car!!

You do have to finance through Toyota Financial to get the rebate. Make sure to run the numbers on your own, but for me it worked out better in the long run to take the $400 at a slightly higher interest rate than to take a lower rate through a local credit union.

It all depends on your FICO score. In my case, Toyota Financial beat my credit union by .3%.

I agree that it all depends on your FICO score, I just wanted to make the point that sometimes it is better to take a higher rate with cash back than a lower rate and nothing back.

I am not positive about Toyota but a friend of mine got a GMC truck pre graduation and received the recent grad discount.

When I got my Prius I use the discount and had to finance as well. I think I financed 2K and had to keep the loan for something like 10 days before I was able to pay off the rest.
