Edmunds shows invoice on an option 5 to be $23,991. With MD auto tax rate of 5% that's $25190, license is only $100-$200 I believe. What about other fees, such as destination? Did you actually pay $25k or was it just less than $26k? And how the heck did you get that w/o haggling? I'm confused.

Toyota charges the destination fee so I don't think you'll find a dealer that will negotiate that. The other fees may be regulatory (and legitimate), regulatory (and inflated), or pure dealer extra profit. Check with the state to discover what is required and how much.

HOW?! I got offered 24,900 before taxes and fees. I looked at all the numbers and the only BS was $669 in 'dealer fees' which i shook my head at, told the guy drop it to a good even $500 and i'll be happy enough with the overall price. out the door of $27,200. Which is more than I thought with taxes, but you cannot avoid sales tax, you know? But how in the heck did you get $25,000 after taxes and all for package number 5?? I bought the same one with my above story and my price was supposed to be pretty close to amazing (i actually walked in thinking 25k would be my limit and he offered 24.9)

If you live in L.A. and don't want to haggle, Longo Toyota routinely sells Prius's at under MSRP.

I don't remember just how much but a friend bought one there last month and I was surprised at how low the price was.

(I bought mine early 2004 and had to pay a hefty premium back then. I did get scotchgarded seats though. : D )i

I was offered $24,990 for a package #5 last week. The Carsdirect price is lower but they don't give the floormats, etc. etc. etc. I haven't haggle yet to get it lower.
