I'm trying to revive this New England Region Forum as I don't see any activities for a long period. Where are all the New Englander hiding? I'm seeing tons of Prius on the Highway every morning as I head down on I-95. Anyone care to organize a meet? Looking to organize a car meet and meet some Prius owner. A leisure drive to NH white mountain sound really nice. Any taker? Need helps of some install? I can help out anyone in the New England area. I got tools and garage/space for someone that need some install done. I'm doing some install soon. My upcoming install include EBH, Mudflaps and cargo net. Give me a shout if you need help (PM'd me). I know there are other Rhode Islanders on PC, and I see a lot of Priuses right around where I live. Maybe a summer event in Newport would be of interest?
I could consider meeting. Would be fun to put a face to some of the posters here. That said living in Somerville/Cambridge I think the prius is one of the most common new cars around so I don't feel so special driving it.

Just dropped off the board of a non-profit organization last fall and trying to preserve some free time - for things like this! Plus I am not the most organized person to begin with. But I'm willing to join in and learn some things from some more experienced Prius owners. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(SomervillePrius @ May 14 2007, 12:05 PM) </div> I'm game. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(larkinmj @ May 14 2007, 10:22 AM) </div> A run to Newport RI is not a bad idea too. I'm taking any suggestion.
Just got to install the EBH and mudflaps over the weekend. EV mods for the coming week. I'm still interested on a small Prius gathering. Even a mod gathering at my garage is welcome too. Hoping to get some interest sparkling here. Email me chinalfr"AT"comcast.net.
I'd be up for a Newport meet. I haven't seen much activity among N.E. folks. But I have met up with the L.I. group a few times. It's been fun, and I've met a great group of folks. I'll be joining them on the North Fork Winery Tour they're planning on doing on June 3rd. LIPOG North Fork Winery Tour I was planing on driving down, and then taking the Port Jeff ferry back. With good weather it could be a great day. If any other New Englanders are up for that, you can send E-mile (PM to nyconrad) a note letting him know you'd like to attend. He's trying to give some of the wineries a heads-up on the count as they are planning tours for us. The L.I. folks love meeting new Prius owners. I highly recommend it if you're up for the trip. I'd love to see a N.E. group form. Then I get my choice - maybe even be a double agent. In my area it's 50-50 (Red Sox-Yankees) you know. Now there's a thought - combined Prii meet at a Red Sox-Yankees game. - Would be great. But sounds like a lot of driving for somebody.
Ever since the successful prius gathering up here two years ago, I've tried to float similar ideas on occasion, and offer to get together with other owners to help with mods and shoot the breeze, and it seems that any time I actually try to reach out to people, they just clam up and I never hear from them. Are New Englanders just that paranoid about meeting up with relative strangers? This is why I have to drive 1100 miles to Hybridfest, f'krissake, to get to pal around with other more outgoing enthusiasts and MPG fiends. . So if something does finally pull together in this neck of the woods, count me in. And if anyone needs help with EBHs or EV switches or even fairly in-depth diagnosis, feel free to at least ask, with the usual caveats about schedules. . _H*
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hobbit @ May 23 2007, 11:19 PM) </div> I hear ya. I might head out to hybridfest if my other trip cancel. Hobbit, I'm still up for the EV install. I'll give you a buzz tomorrow.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(chinalfr2 @ May 24 2007, 12:56 AM) </div> I would be interesting in meeting up too! Please let me know if we are planning anything.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(priusFTW @ May 25 2007, 03:40 PM) </div> So what's that? 5 People from all of New England? C'mon New Englanders, there must be more of you out there interested. Hobbit I may take you up on the install of a EBH when the fall comes.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hobbit @ May 23 2007, 11:19 PM) </div> Or up and down nearly the entire East Coast?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Neicy @ May 26 2007, 06:32 AM) </div> Wayne (Firengineer) came to my home with this daughter and installed my EBH for me. I would like to have the EV mod done though.
I'd certainly take an excuse for heading for the white mountains. PM me if you're interested, FTW... . In other news, and not strictly New England related, everyone should give this a quick look and decide if you can free up a little time the weekend of Jun 9-10 to go rally in NJ! Short notice, but the event coordinators are still looking for more participants. . _H*
How long a drive for us? What goes on there? Can you enlighten the uninitiated rookies among us? I wish it were a little closer.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hobbit @ May 31 2007, 08:28 PM) </div> Gee thx Hobbit, What state in New England do you live in? I would want the OEM EV mod, which I assume I would purchase from Sigma. Would that be ok?
Eep, sorry guys, I got back from NJ and it's been pretty heads-down trying to catch up so I haven't gotten back to any of you. Next week should be more open. . So last night I was tooling around town on a bicycle, and by chance happened to duck into a parking lot to discover that there's a bunch of vintage rod enthusiasts who meet there EVERY THURSDAY! One guy said that the [large] parking lot is usually *packed*. Yesterday was overcast so I guess some of them were staying home, but even as I finished looking around and left, more of those big ol' rumblers were still arriving. . All they do is show up in their vehicles, hang out, and schmooze. Hundreds of them, and I'm sure this scene is duplicated in many towns across NE and beyond on warm summer nights. C'mon, folks, if they can spend most of an evening BSing about the crate 390 they're rebuilding, why shouldn't hybrid folks be able to get together and recount that week's beautiful half-mile warp stealth glides while installing a couple more EV buttons? We'd even make less noise and avoid annoying the nearby restaurant owners. . _H*
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hobbit @ Jun 15 2007, 10:03 PM) </div> I'd be more than happy to do that! I say that we should set a date to meet in Boston or something. I was just in Boston this past weekend for a concert. I saw a number of Pri on the drive there... what do you guys say?
