Date Ordered: 4 Oct 2004 Dealer: Crown Toyota, Ontario California Timeframe: 1 week Color: Seaside Pearl (Blue) Options: BC (2004 #9/2005 #6) Wait list: None I'm on a few waiting lists (for about 2 weeks now) and read about Crown Toyota on one of the PriusChat forums (Dlrs in S. Cal). 4 Oct 2004 - fillled out form at dealers site requesting a quote 5 Oct 2004 - got a call from fleet sales guy (Mike Breicha) saying he would have coming allocation later in the week and would call to tell me what was going to be available soon 6 Oct 2004 - got a call from Mike saying he had someone on the list who didn't want the car, and I could contract for it immediately. Drove to the dealer and signed the contract!! Promised delivery date - 12 Oct 2004 Also - as a meber of Auto Club, the price is $100 *less* than MSRP!! Experience with the dealer has been positive - courteous, knowlegeable with no pressure. I declined all extras offered, and they didn't give me any pressure. http://www.crown-toyota.com No affiliation with the dealer other than as a happy (so far) customer
Updating the timeline 4 Oct 2004 - fillled out form at dealers site requesting a quote 5 Oct 2004 - got a call from fleet saleman (Mike Breicha) 6 Oct 2004 - 2nd call from Mike saying he had one available within a week 8 Oct 2004 - call from Mike saying the car was at the lot, ready for pick up 9 Oct 2004 - picked it up from the lot Wanted "seaside perl" but was flexible. Ended up w/tideland perl which I actually think looks better. Probably a matter of being in the right place at the right time, but in any event, I'm one very happy Prius owner
Congratulations! In spite of the Prius roadside assistance, that Auto Club thing may have some value. (Somewhat less if your Prius has the Nav system.) I stayed in a hotel overnight on my two-day trip back from Escanaba with my new Prius, and was offered a room discount based on my Auto Club membership. Guess I'll have to join the Auto Club now  . (To clarify, the hotel was stretching my Shell Motorist Club membership to cover the AAA rate because they saw I was likely to leave and their room would go unsold.)
