I am going to be wiring in my ValentineOne radar detector and it says that I need to wire it up to Negative Ground, I am 99.9% positive I should be ok, but has anyone hooked up anything like this, can anyone confirm the wiring on the 12V feed below the radio, that is where I plan on splicing in to for this. Thanks, Phil
I am also interested in hard wiring my radar detector. I thought if it were placed behind the black tinted plastic to the right of the indicator lights next to the speedo, the LEDS would shine through and it would look like a factory intergrated detector.
I hard wired my Sirius receiver the other day. Your best bet is to get some telephone taps at Radio Shack. They crimp on the power wire and eliminate any stripping. In terms of the actual wiring, I ran it through the dash and down to the fuse panel. I wanted the receiver to stay on when the ignition is off, so I ran the positive to the light green wire and used a telephone tap to tie it in. I crimped a spade on the negative and grounded it on one of the nuts above the pedals.
I wired my external NAV to the back of the 12v "cigarette lighter" outlet on the center post below the dash. It's easy to get to.

I left my Valentine One in my other car - the one with a real V8 engine and transmission - the one that does 0-60 in under 15 seconds - the one that gets about 17 mpg I admire your attitude. Best of luck. Stay away from those po-po's.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dbermanmd @ May 31 2007, 10:07 AM) </div> Need for what the radar detector? Last I checked it's not how fast you get to the speed over the posted speed limit, but if you get caught doing it. I don't always drive under the speed limit in my car, that is why I have it in there. So the middle post on the back of the 12v lighter is where I need to be then? The valentine one comes with a wiring kit to do this, just haven't done it yet. I am also going to be putting in the coastal lock pick when I do it, so I want to hit everything all at once. Just want to make sure i'm tying in to the right place. thanks, Phil
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(philwojo @ May 31 2007, 11:42 AM) </div> Just kidding with you. I, perchance, also happen to find myself doing in excess of posted speed limits. This usually happens when I am traveling on a decline - especially long ones or ones with more dramatic negative changes in elevation over shorter distances. I have even possibly noticed my speedometer read in excess of 70 mph on said downhills Quite exhilerating in fact - much more so than my other car that the Valentine One resides in - in fact, said car doesn't even shake until all  BTW my best form of protection against the po-po is not my Valentine One which has not worked with 100% reliability - it has been my PBA card and police badge!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(cairo94507 @ May 31 2007, 10:19 AM) </div> My receiver has the replay feature which allows me to pause, rewind and play 44 minutes of broadcasts. I will sometimes pause the unit if I am listening to a game or show and need to run into the store. When I get back out, I press play and pick up where I left off. To do this, I needed the receiver to have power even when the ignition was turned off.
