<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(PriusRos @ May 21 2007, 07:54 PM) </div> Simple. Tug the handle without wrapping your fingers around to the back (i.e., grip it at the top and bottom with fingers and thumb). So long as you don't touch the sensor in the back, it won't unlock. It's even easier this way, because you can also double-check the door right after you've locked it.
Nothing really annoying, but I do wish all new cars, not just Prius came with some sort of side molding that would catch the dings from idiots who insist on parking 2 inches from your car and then opening their door into it!!! That happens way too often.
So far, I love the car (just hit 1000 miles), but there are a few things I would change... 1. the rear wiper is pretty useless since it only reaches about 1/3 of the rear window. 2. if you answer the phone using the bluetooth, it mutes the stereo, but if you're listening to a cd, it keeps playing, so you can miss a lot of music. why doesn't it just shut the stereo down while the phone is on? 3. i'd like fan controls on the steering wheel 4. i'd like to be able to use the bluetooth (or my passenger) while I'm driving. I don't think it's any more distracting than the normal display. 5. The aux plug in is inside the arm-rest compartment, so when my ipod is plugged in, I can't see it. I'm not sure where I would put the plug in, but if I want to change the music, it's annoying to have to reach inside the compartment. 6. My dog's hair sticks to the cloth in the hatch area. Can't they make anti-dog hair cloth?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(CJs Mom @ May 21 2007, 11:28 PM) </div> I use one of these. Yes, the link is for the mini, but they make models for other iPods. Holds it nicely in either of the drink holders at the end of the console. I use it in conjunction with this. Not only does it charge the iPod, it has a 3.5 mm plug in the power base, so you can just pop over to the Aux input with a short cable, so only a single cable comes out of the console.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(PriusRos @ May 21 2007, 05:54 PM) </div> Pull the front doors? They won't unlock within 3 secs after locking.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(zenMachine @ May 21 2007, 03:15 PM) </div> All you have to do it tug on the hatch, it will unlock without the driver door having been unlocked. (as long as you have smart key)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(MJGreen @ May 22 2007, 01:10 AM) </div> Understand. But I don't want to have to touch the hatch either (unless I want to open the hatch to throw stuff in there first.) Still, a very minor annoyance (as compared to the sucky sound system, for example.)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(MJGreen @ May 22 2007, 01:10 AM) </div> But the poster was referring to the rear doors to the passenger cabin, not the hatch.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(CJs Mom @ May 21 2007, 09:28 PM) </div> I highly recommend the 20" wiper arm offered by Sigma Automotive The difference in rear visibility is dramatic. IMO Toyota should make a 20" rear wiper standard.
Cheapness, Stingy interior, Non adjusting driver seat height, Non telescoping seering wheer, Tinny sound system, Squeaks, rattels, 15 inch wheels. A bout $3500 worth of profit making by the company that was totally unnecessary and that plastice junky dash. Drum brakes in rear. rear suspension design. I am running out of ink.
No side mouldings; it's just a matter of time until ding city. The fabric on consel and armrest will probably be a problem in the future; even though I Scotch Guarded them. Also, I like a car you can get fresh outside air to circulate through. I can't complain about the rear wiper, it hasn't rained yet. My biggest complaint is that Toyota dropped the package prices three days after I got mine.
I HATE the cloth on the doors and sides of the back seats. It gets filthy when my doggies stick their heads out the windows. ARGH! Fortunately, there is a place on ebay where you can get the custom leather covers. I also miss my heated, power seats in my old SUV. Still, the cons far outweigh the pros! <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(priusincc @ May 22 2007, 10:58 PM) </div> Hey! I bought the custom side mouldings. Super easy to install, and just over $100 for the 4-piece set. Boy am I glad I put them on...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(thebrattygurl @ May 23 2007, 10:17 AM) </div> Ironically, the three Prius people I know who installed side moldings all still got dings, above and below the moldings. Glad I didn't bother with them.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Winston @ May 22 2007, 01:40 PM) </div> I'm not sure which radio or things about it are sucky. I got the standard(?) radio/speakers with single CD, I think it sounds great using my XM radio through the aux input. My Ipod also sounds great. I never listen to am/fm anymore unless I miss hearing commercials. I do adjust the bass/treble, you must remember that the radio remembers the settings for each input... set bass/treble for CD and you must also do it for AUX. I've got so much bass when I want it that the rear-view mirror will shake with the vibrations. Treble is also good imho.
For me would have to be the Winter time performance - although not totally annoying. Thanks to this forum I've learnt to accept and manage the other minor things (TC, varying bladder capacity, tricky fuel gauge, etc). Saddly, the winter FE performance though is something that is hard to manage, but still I expected better results. Cheers; MSantos
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ScottR @ May 23 2007, 10:25 AM) </div> Well I guess I have been lucky. I had 7 door dings on my Acura MDX from Wal-Mart parking lots, which I frequent. So far, the Pruis has none!
