I've a new Prius. I want to buy some seat covers to protect the seats. When I was looking at some universal covers the other day (Coverking) there was a warning on the package that if the car was equiped with side curtain airbags that the seat covers may pose a danger to the occupants if it is used. Is this true with the Prius? It did not occur to me that an airbag might deploy out of the side of my seat. I've seen lots of reviews of seat covers and discussions of them but couldn't find anything on how they might interfere with the proper deployment of the side airbags. Any info appreciated.

I bought my set covers here http://www.toyotapartsstore.com Not to hard to put on. You do have to take the lower back set out, but I do recommend them.
Thank You so much. I have been looking at seat covers at a lot of sites but never found this one. Can you take a better picture of them? The picture they give does not enlarge well to show detail.
Also try: http://www.gtcovers.com/ They make really well-fitted covers with the optinal flap for the air bag.
Exact Seat Covers has the flap to accommodate side air bags, too. http://www.exactseatcovers.com/ Excellent value!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jcadmus @ May 21 2007, 08:34 PM) </div> the air bag deploys out the side of the seat, the fabric is made to do this. If you put a cover over the seat that is not made to open for the air bag, the air bag will not deploy.
