Went to a dealer today, drove Touring/Non-touring. Boyfriend fell in love with the Prius !!!! We both decided on Non-Touring. (package #5, Non-Touring, with Navigation) I did homework here re: pricing, so I felt somewhat ready. Salesman we saw said he can NOT get Non-Touring package 5 in the Gulf States... they do not deliver them here. !? That the only way to get package 5 with Navigation is on the Touring, or to order package 6. I did not automatically believe that, so I called other local dealers and was told by 2 out of 3 that they CAN get them, but it may take a few weeks. (so why did the salesman we saw today tell us that ?) I told the other salesmen I called, that I am looking for 2500 off MSRP and I would shop around til I found it. After trying to convince me to come in to visit, and finding out that I dont want to come in unless they can nail down the price/package/color/ I want, 2 salesmen agreed to that, and are working hard to find me (us) what I want ! over the phone first, and if we like what we hear, we will come in. If I could, I would get package 6, but it's allot pricier than package 5, ?? only difference is leather. When should I tell them I want 25,100, to 25,600. out the door ? (including Tax/Title/License), right ? Should I wait til they make an offer and THEN tell them ? Or tell them first ? I told them a Prius group I belong to is finding great deals, and if I have to drive to Houston or Dallas, I will. Is there anyone in Texas who has gotten the above price for package 5 (NON-Touring) and - if so, where are you ? How long did it take to get your car ? They have to order it, as far as i understand. Thanks very much for your time. P.S. My boyfriend is the same 'friend' who was suggesting (yesterday) that I consider the non-hybrid Civic. After driving the Prius today, he was sold ! B)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(pola @ May 11 2007, 11:06 PM) </div> I bought a 2007 Prius (Package #5) non-touring for $24,800 out the door on May 10, 2007 in Birmingham, AL. The main advantage I had was two dealers in my general area had the exact same car (even the same color) on their lots and wanted to sell them. They both knew I was talking with the other. It was a painful experience as each tried to make me feel guilty for not buying the car from them, but in the end was worth it. Hope this helps. Malcolm
You can call differenct dealerships. Always call the fleet/internet salesperson- they usually are better to deal with- try Costco , AAA to get cheap price -sometimes. And of course try the- We are buying TWO" discount ...Good luck.
