    I got that too... :)

Last week, I got my 2007 prius with package#5 at S. California Huntington Beach Toyota for $26500 out the door(T & L included).

My sister and I called and emailed more than 25 different dealers.

    2007 Prius
Package 6 (highest level of features, but not touring)
    carpet floor/trunk mats
    Magnetic Gray

    $24,847
    + 165 doc fee
    -----------------
    $25,012

State tax, title, registration, etc. totaled $1,357.35

    Total: $26,369.35

I think I did pretty darn good! Took a lot of bargaining. All done via the internet.

I'm new to the forums and recently (5/5/07) purchased a Classic Silver Metallic, 2007 Prius (package #5) from Santa Barbara Toyota (93111).

    * Sticker info *
    - $28,139.00 MSRP

    * Some research and number-crunching *
    - $25,340.00 average invoice price (5 quotes, including edmunds and KBB)
    - $28,894.95 expected out-the-door (OTD) price including 5% modest, but fair dealer profit

    * What we got and paid *
    - $24,973.44 negotiated purchase price
    - $27,201.90 total price OTD including tax (7.75%), license, registration and doc fee ($55.00)
    - Put down $4000.00 and financed balance through our credit union at 5.49% over 4 years

We love our new Prius, and currently averaging about 51.0 MPG!

Just put a deposit on a white 2007 Touring, package #5, carpet mats, and shield package for 25,140 +TTL (26,950 OTD). A fair price I think. It's still on the boat, but will get here in 2-3 weeks.

Apparently from the posts I've read, the prices are a bit better in CA, but this was the best I could do around Dallas. Yet another reason to miss CA--I just moved from there.

This dealer (Toyota of Fort Worth) was by far the best price I could get at any Dallas area dealer. Of 10-15 dealers I dealt with via email, only 1 would even match the price (after several rounds of negotiating), others told me outright to buy the car from the dealer with the price above.

I must admit, shopping via internet is really, really nice. I hate haggling. Really hate it, and this was literally painless. I'd recommend sending out inquiries via one of the car sites (I used cars.com and some others). This way the dealer knows your looking at other dealership, and the BS is mitigated. Granted not BS-free. Some dealers evade questions and try to make you call or visit for info. I simply persisted with email until I weeded through the dealers and found the cooperative ones. I was dead set on color and package, so It took a little longer than it otherwise might have, about 1 week total.

Interestingly, my buying price was the first offer from that dealer. Seems a straight forward guy. Claims he's compensated by volume rather than margins, hence he goes with a low price immediately. Also, very, very responsive, and politely followed up all our exchanges if more than a day or two passed.

THat is pretty good. Package 6 has the leather and all that stuff right?
I think my dealer here in OKlahoma quoted me close to 29 (but I htink it had some of those extra mile and other extraneous options)

Yes it has the leather seats, trim, and steering wheel. I love it. I wasn't crazy about the spongy material on the door arm rests with the cloth interior. The car I test drove was new but the door armrests were filthy already. This one has leather there instead.

Maybe the east coast has better deals than other parts of the country. I kinda can't believe what I got the car for compared to what they are going for in California!

I bought a package 2 yesterday for $22,308. I know from other posts that I maybe could have done better, but it was no hassle and that was important for me.

some one tell me if i got ripped off.

I purchased a 2005 prius with 4,500 down with a price tag of 18,700. After talking with toyota financial they now say i owe (initialy after the down payment) 18,500. Basicaly they said there was 3,000 in processing or something like that, the priced dropped to 15,000 after the down payment (18,700 - 4,500 = 14,200??) and they added 3,000 of fee's on the car, meaning i payed a total of about 23,000? or i am going to pay that much with interested included. NOTE the car came with 50,000 miles on it..... Did i get ripped off? BTW, i have a very basic package as well. (the total is actualy 22520)

So the question is is 22520 to much for a prius that has 50k miles on it? I did get a Toyota certified platinum / 100k service plan on it as well.

I just purchased my brand new 2007 prius last week. I purchased a package 5 with the leather upgrade, and the package C for 25700.00. I had to go to two other dealerships in Houston to get the price that I wanted an finally go it. I like to think that I got a a pretty good price.

Just bought a 2007 Classic Silver Prius with package #2.

My wife has been driving a Lexus SUV for the past 6 years. When I met her we were both driving 1988 econo boxes. One day her boss came into her office and asked if she was busy. He drove her to the Lexus dealership and leased an RX300 for her. All she had to do was pay the gas for three years. They leased her an RX330 when that was up. A nice perk for her and I'm sure a nice tax write off for the company.

In the meantime her company merged with another company, but before the merge her bossed bumped up her salary to cover the lease on the car and she took over the payments.

After driving the Prius and doing some research on the car, we decided it was a no-brainer. She would be pocketing the difference between the Lexus lease and the Prius payment, plus she now gets mileage when she travels for work.

The best deal I found for the a pkg 2 car was $22,137 (with the destination charge), about an hour away. My local dealer matched that offer and also wanted to buy the Lexus. We actually came out 656 dollars ahead on the lease, which her boss, as yet another perk, allowed her to keep the difference to apply towards the purchase.

My credit union had 5.49% financing. Toyota asked if I would be interested in 5.25%. When I saw the doc fee of $250 a few days before we picked up the car (bogus charges like that really irk me) I tried to get them to lower the doc fee if I went with their financing, since they would make money off me and the difference between 5.49 and 5.25 percent was only a few bucks a month at what we were financing. A little more haggling and I got them instead to throw in the all-weather Prius rubber floor mats. At least I got a little back. They are nice mats!

But the pleasant shock came at signing. I didn't realize that since the Lexus at trade was worth more than the Lexus, we paid no sales tax on the Prius! All told that Lexus saved us a little over $2K than if we had just turned the car back to Lexus at the end of the lease. I will be curious to see what the dealer advertises for her Lexus.

I paid $20740 for a package 2 here in MD. That's all thanks to this site and Bob64 who had posted his deal of $20790, the saleswoman who e-mailed me the $20790 price so I could get a better one from the dealer here in MD. Previously the best price I had was $21745 so I saved over $1k. And yes I got this price w/o financing or service contracts.

Look to go to a big dealership with many spare Prii (they had 55!!!). The big dealership will be competing with others for sales and they can absorb an $1300 "below invoice" hit... I went on a Sunday a day before they were finishing their sales books... Read online about best prius deals in your area...
