i was flipping thru channels and came across the WB's Jack and Bobby , and as they where getting in their car i saw that it was an '04 Prius! looked like a tideland (it was a night scene)
I did not see that, though I watched the show. I'm guessing that you're talking about the series premeire. I saw a Prius on an episode of Monk. The one where Charona is made out to be insane. They all go to question a teacher at her home and if you pay attention, parked in front of her house (only half in the scene) is a Prius. Pretty cool that they are becoming so mainstream that they're appearing in television shows. I mean, it's cool that actors and actresses are using them to drive up to the red carpet at award shows, but that's hardly what I would call "mainstream".
I saw Jack & Bobby too last night. I am sure it was a Tideland as I have one myself. The cool thing was that Bobby was in a fight with his mom in front of the Prius so it was featured very prominently. Esther
The episode that had the car was episode 2. I saw it and didn't get a chance to post it. Hopefully we'll see it again, and maybe even have it mentioned! Tim
I think they've shown the car twice. The first time was the second episode like tcooper185 mentioned, where Jack & Bobby's mom is stoned and Jack has to drive her to go pick up Bobby at Courtney's house. We only see about the top 1/3rd of the car and I was pretty sure it was a Prius. The second time was this weeks episode, like eklabbers mentioned. Bobby and his mom were arguing across the car and we got to see the entire front end for a good 10 or 20 seconds (including a Missouri plate, which I thought was a nice touch since it's supposed to take place in Missouri). I was curious how they would handle her getting into the car. I could hear her rattling keys around and I half expected the sound guys to make a key in the ignition sound followed by an engine starting sound. But, all we heard was keys rattling, then they cut away to another scene.
Here are my thoughts on why the Prius is a good car for the McAllister (sp?) family. The series is ostensibly set in the future and shows the present time in flashbacks. It would be great to have a hybrid in these "look at what our future president was doing" moments. I think the 2004 Prius (episodes were made before Toyota began making the 2005) is better for television than a Classic Prius because it has so much more interior space. The discussions in the car show up better because the car is roomy. And it does not hurt that the mom is a college professor (and tall).
