I was wondering if anyone bought the sun shades from the store and how they liked them? Are there other ones out there that aren't quite so pricey?

    Thanks ;-)

I have one and it is quite nice, I like it alot. However, it has devloped a sag in the center of it. I think Evan here has devloped a mod to it in order to increase it's rigidness. Do a search of sunshade, I'm sure you will find some info.

Mine arrived a couple of days ago. Fit very well, but I suspect any auto parts store would have acceptable shades for 1/2 the price.

Or even less. But maybe not acceptable. Due to the Prius' long windshield, you'll probably have a hard time finding one to fit well. That could help contribute to a problem like this. For me, the cheap model was penny-wise, dollar-foolish.

I have all six. (had to buy the front and back side windows separately).

I don't use any of them. I use a foldable front shade and nothing else. Too much of a hassle. If I were parked for a long period of time outside I might put them in. Like I left the car in my parents' driveway and took a trip. But I own a garage and they are just too much of a hassle. Might even sell them on eBay. It is the one Prius accessory I would not buy again.

I have had mine for 10 months now and use it about once a week, It has held up very well and fits perfect ! In Arizona you want as much window covered as possible, this does the trick, but it is a bit of a hassle to fit in, like it takes all of about 30 seconds...........

The Parts store at my Toyota dealership sells the type that are two separate pieces
which you strap to the visors of the driver and passenger side. They are folded up
and add just a little bit of thickness to the visors when not in use. Very convenient
since you don't have to worry about stowing them away anywhere.

To use, you just fold them out one at a time.

Even though they're not for the Prius specifically, they still do a great job of protecting
your dash from the sun and your car from the heat, especially if you also have window
vents which allow you to leave the windows cracked open a bit.

Together with the window tints, these shades really help keep my car cool in the Texas sun.
As a bonus, one of them also has a CD holder while the other has a car wallet.

All that for only $13. If you decide to get them, be sure to get the larger size. See the back
for list of cars that fit.

[attachmentid=8209][attachmentid=8210][attachmentid=8211][attachmentid=8212]The wife made ours, bought a roll of the sunshade material at home depot 5-8.00 dollars and we had some left over gray auto upholstery material and she covered the interior side. so no scratches to the dash since it is covered on that side. and left the reflective side out.
turned out very nice for lots less.$$$$$

I will post some pix later

Late to the thread conversation, but I've been scouring over the Internet. There are some products where sun shades have a bendable umbrella arm. Find it on Amazon.

I like the Prius Chat design tho.

Weathertech insulated custom fit windshield shade. $69.

14 years old still going strong, I don’t let my car sit for 1 minute down here without that shade In the window. G2 has a pretty big windshield at steep angle really nice for a hothouse lol.

I also made a shade for the rear window. And good tint.

Hot car=hot hybrid battery=short hybrid battery life.

I recently discovered that my old two-piece twist-to-store shade fits well in the rear window of my Prime. It takes a little longer than a single-piece one, but it's worth it. Keeps the car a LOT cooler ... er ... less hot. It just has two little gaps due to being a little too big. I'll try to remember to get pictures sometime when it's my turn in the garage (one car garage, two cars), or it's not raining.
