First official wave to/from fellow Prius owner

I'm hoping one day to be able to come up to another Prius owner with the same color as mine and say enthusiastically "Wow, what a beautiful car, I wish I had one just like it! Oh, wait..."

About a month ago, I had met a woman and her daughter at the store. I had seen them get out of their Prius on the way in and we started talking. The daughter was really proud of the car because it was sooooo cool at school. We were chattering away about the Prius experience on the way out to the parking lot and the mother walked up to my car and tried to open it. Then almost immediately said "oh that's your car." It was hilarious.

 

After owning my Prius a month I've only gotten one official prius wave here in Frankfort KY. The person was actually from Maryland passing through. It was pretty cool! I pass by an 02 prius and wave, but she doesn't wave back, I'll be next to a Pri at a stop and wave, but none given back. I'm wondering if these prius owners know about the wave, and what I can do to start it up...

I'm starting to think that other prius owners around here are too stuck up or ignorant.

Never had a wave in Massachusetts, New Hampshire or The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations in the month I've owned mine either.

Nobody waves in Mass - too busy trying to avoid an accident. But if I see you I will wave. I haven't gotten a wave either. Then again most people don't even make eye contact let alone say hi. Everyone's in too much of a rush around here. And I was born in this state. I find when I travel it's much different. Don't take it personal. Glad you're here.

Everyone waved when the Prius was not so common, after the 2007 models came out, they are very common. In 2006 I would only see about one in a week in the Sarasota area. Now no one pays any attention to you if you are driving a Prius. I spoke to a young lady and told her, "nice car" and she just ignored me. I would like to see them scarse again.

OK, I have to tell you that Himself, the man who convinced me to buy a Pri (for which I of course take full credit) has decided to wave at every Pri he sees. Now I have to ask, is there a special Pri wave? He decided that a couple waves of the Peace symbol was the proper salute.

 

It may have been me! I started waiving again... There's just SO MANY Prius' around here- it's a little rediculous!
