BT Plate install

If you're thin/small enough (think gnomes), you can get under the car and just install the plate without jacking it up. If you have a sloped driveway, you could position the car at the top of the driveway with the end hanging off the slope.

I did install it without jacks or parking half off the curb. I'm 6'3" and 160lbs wet.

 

GREAT job F8l!! We have had some customers that are able to install our BT plate just in the manner that you did. Another popular way was to find a small curb and drive the front wheels over it that would provide more clearance under the middle of the car. Of course you should make sure that the car is in PARK, emergency brake is ON and block all wheels to prevent the possibility of movement!!! (End of disclaimer)

I have a question. Last weekend I had a friend install the BT Stiffening plate for me as he's a car enthusiast and he owns all of the tools necessary for installation. He jacked up the driver's side of the car and placed jack stands under the front and back and then removed the old plate and installed the new one.

My question is, is it ok that he installed the plate with the driver's side of the car up in the air with the passenger side wheels on the ground, or would it have been better to raise either the front or back of the car. Or does it even matter?
