    2007 Seaside w/ Package 4 = $24,041 + 7% tax. Took almost 10 minutes of negotiating.

Oh, and I made them toss in an oil change and tire rotation since they couldn't meet my $24,000 demand.

You could probably do better, but the prices keep climbing around here. (Ohio)

    Full 7/100K near bumper-to-bumper Toyota exended warranty = $1100.

I just got a '07 Magnetic Gray Prius with highest package, 6 i believe (whatever the highest one is)? I also had the dealer install heated leather seats for the driver and passenger as well as well as leather in the back. Total out-the-door cost $30,030 and some odd cents.

I agree. My wife and I paid $6800 for our 2002 Prius after the trade of our 2003 Dodge Intrepid SE. Negative equity, however, remains an issue. All said and done, though, we came out in way better shape. Our insurance and our gas bill dropped 33%. Good stuff all the way around.

I just bought a 2007 Magnetic Gray Prius PKG #6 for $24,975 + 8.25% tax, lic, fees, = $27,330 out the door. MSRP was $29,544 minus $2000 Toyota factory discount = $27,544. I got a quote over the phone from the fleet manager and drove home the next day. I am very happy with the purchase. In and out in less than 1 hour.

SF Bay Area dealer. Purchased on 4/23/07.

I'm picking up my 07 Touring with Pkg 3 & floor mats for 24526 + title/tax. My sister has bought two prii from this guy already so he upfront offered me whatever i wanted at invoice pricing. The only thing above and beyond what i researched as "invoice pricing" online was a local dealer advertising fee. He gave me what I asked for on my trades and it was a no hassle experience so I didn't both trying to beat him down on $500 of advertising fees.

If you're in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area I'll be glad to send you his way! (Plus he pays ya $100 for anyone you send him that buys a car! B) )

I'm having trouble getting a base Prius with PKG2/HG for under $22k (plus tax only). Closest I've got is $22,200. When I mention the Edmunds invoice price of $20.419 they simply send me the "Vehicle Pricing Report" which shows the following:

    Vehicle Base Model ..........................:$ 22175.00 $ 19755.00 $ 22175.00
    50 State Emissions .........................
    Package #2 Includes: Vehicle Stability ..... 575.00 518.00
Control; Backup Camera; Smart Key System; ..
AM/FM CD w/6 Speakers, Aux Audio Input .....
Miniplug, and MP3/WMA Playback Capability ..
    Carpet Floor Mats & Cargo Mat .............. 199.00 126.00
    --------- --------- ---------
    Total Accessories ...........................: $ 774.00 $ 644.00 $ 774.00
    Destination Charge ..........................: $ 620.00 $ 620.00
    TDA .........................................: $ 494.00
    Gasoline ....................................: $ 10.00
    Dealer Holdback .............................: $ 443.00
    Whsl. Financial Reserve .....................: $ 221.00
    --------- ---------
    Total .......................................: $ 22187.00 $ 23569.00

So they say the invoice is 22187, not 20147. The dealer's are saying that the above-mentioned Destination Charge, TDA, Holdback and Financial Reserve are all things that they have to pay for, and so they simply pass on to the buyer - but I'm not yet convinced that this is true. I'm sure there are other incentives going on behind the scenes that give the dealers a kickback based on volume, etc.

What I do find interesting is the $ 19755.00 figure, which must represent the basic price the dealer pays Toyota for the vehicle - plus whatever extra fees (if any) Toyota charges them. Also interesting is that this figure, with the cost of delivery added onto it, comes to within $20 of Edmunds invoice price.

I paid nearly 24k for a 2007 Prius Touring Edition with only standard features. I couldn't afford another $2500 to $5000 they were asking for the packages, and there was no haggling on the price. The Toyota dealer pretty much has the attitude of "That's the price. If you don't buy it, the guy right behind you will."

Sounds like from the deals you guys have gotten, I pretty much got took. :(

These are charges that are added to the dealer's cost of the vehicle. Destination charge is a standard charge from Toyota. I'm not sure what TDA and Financial Reserve actually are but I think they are legit.

I like to use KBB.com to get my pricing info. Their listed invoice price comes withing a few dollars of what the dealer says is their invoice price.

The only charge you listed which should not be charged to the customer is dealer holdback. This is 2% of the dealer's invoice (without the extra charges) that the dealer pays initially to Toyota. When the vehicle is put into their inventory or the vehicle is sold, Toyota reimburses the dealer that amount. A VERY good description can be found at Edmunds.com. Just do a search for "holdback".

I just bought my 2007 Prius (Magnetic Gray) Non-Touring Package 5 for $24,322 - which was about $200 more or less than carsdirect, edmunds and kbb price. I am certainly hoping that this is a good price as I found this prius forum a little too late :)

They were gonna charge me around $190 for the mats but I refused to pay for it and they ended up just throwing it in. They also gave me a "voucher" for my next tank of gas.

I bought it on Monday, April 30th and I am loving every inch of it!!!!!!

I am picking up my new 07 Touring Magnetic gray option package 6:

    Price before taxes, title/registration: $25, 600.

Given that the dealers have a $461 dealer cash back, I figure they stand to make $512. This price seems to be $2265 below MSRP.

I just picked up a Silver Package #2 for $21,380 at Fairfield Toyota in California on April 29th 2007. They were excellent.

My experience was like yours, everyone was saying their invoice was much higher, around $22,143, than what Edmunds.com reported.

The closest anyone else came to the offer I accepted was about $21,700 out in Walnut Creek, CA. Everyone else wanted $22,100 and wouldn't even compete with my best offer.

As for the fees, I know the destination charge is legit. I don't know what TDA is, but all the dealerships I dealt with had a $55 documentation fee. I wasn't charged for a full tank of gas. Dealer holdback sounds really bogus as that is an amount of money dealer receives from the manufacturer for selling the car (2% of the invoice for Toyota). How is it that they bill you for that? Financial Reserve also sounds like something that you don't need to pay.

You should mention that you'd like to take advantage of the Toyota discounts that were anounced at the beginning of April. They announced a $600 discount on package #2 HERE that you are entitled to.

In my opinion you should pay Invoice + Destination Charge - Toyota's discount + ~3% (for them to make a profit) + Tax.
