For the past 3 days, wherever I leave my Prius parked in my town, when I come out to the car to drive away, I notice the windshield wipers sticking out into the air. It keeps happening. It happened at work, at my girlfriend's apartment, and at the store. Is it other prius owners saying "Hi?" Is it a gang of Prius haters? Am I blacking out and doing it to myself? Has this happened to you? It's really odd, and getting on my nerves at this point. I don't want it to progress into getting my car keyed wherever I go.
People up here do it sometimes in winter to stop them from freezing up, but you don't have that problem.
That's weird. Actually what is happening is that the solar sensors in the tips of the wipers point to the sun to capture all of that good, free, renewable solar energy.
Actually, the tips of the wipers have extremely efficient solar collectors. They are electronically activated and designed to recharge both the hybrid battery and the 12V. From page 128 of the Users' Manual (may be different depending on model year): "In the event that the driver forgets to up-end the wipers when parked in sunlight, the electonically[sic]-activated solar-collecting wipers will point towards the sun." Geez! Does no one read manuals anymore?

Consider yourself lucky; in many places whoever's doing it would simply tear the wiper blades off, leaving the arms all bent to crap. Happened to a friend who parked in front of a MickeyDs in NYC; came out later on to find that some drunkfux had not only puked on the hood, but had mangled the wipers. He barely managed to get home on one spare blade that happened to be kicking around in the back of the car and an arm that could be sufficiently unbent to approximate the right sweep on the drivers side... . _H*
<_< Hi freke70 Aside from the 'humor' posted, here's a more practical possibility. If you have recently replaced the wiper blades, or had them replaced, the 'latch mechanism' which holds them in place can be installed backwards allowing the blades to slide within the frame. If this is the case, the blades would tend to drift 'outward.'

Definite weirdness. I haven't had that happen to me nor have I seen anything like that here on other Prii (or any other car for that matter). So, this is a longshot suggestion but is there any chance you can set up some sort of video or web camera at a place like work or your girlfriend's? Since this sounds like it's happening on a regular basis maybe you can capture it... Could someone you know be playing this trick on you?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moxiequz @ May 3 2007, 01:34 AM) </div> Maybe the car is haunted by the ghost of a blind pedestrian that was run over in stealth mode.
well, it didn't happen at all today. It could very well be someone I know....but, I don't really think one of my friends would do that...and I don't have any enemies that I know of. It's just super odd.
