I love it and am excited about it. My wife thinks I've gone crazy.
Welcome to the Prius community! I can empathize going from a Mercedes to a Prius (I went from a Geo Metro to a Prius), but it's well worth it.
I understand you. In 2003 traded a 1995 S600 more than fully loaded, most fabulous ride on earth. It had 50,000 miles My extended warranty was up and Mercedes dealer said I was going to need a wiring harness. Who knows if that was true. The car was expensive on brakes, tires, warranty, insurance and GAS. It cost an outrageous amount per mile. I was starting to loose sleep on what would go wrong next. I had to get a transmission just before the warranty ran out. It has jaded me on cars. I don't trust any of them out of warranty. I just got rid of a beetle just out of warranty, that was always in the shop from day one for electrical and stupid things that should not have gone wrong on a car @25,000 miles. It had a broken windshield, needed tires and brakes. I thought I had better trade while it was worth something.
I traded in a 2002 Chevy Blazer Xtreme that just hit 51,000 miles (I don't drive much). I had it paid off for almost 3 years and now I am back to having a car payment...but in the long run, it will be worth it considering maintenance on it is either under warranty or I have paid ahead on it (oil changes for the lifetime of the vehicle). I think my insurance might go down too.
We traded a 1998 Volvo S70 GLT with 86,000 miles. Nice ride for sure but we NEVER looked back after we got the Prius
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Prius The First @ May 1 2007, 08:33 AM) </div> I used to drive one of those. I miss the ergonomics and those wonderful seats but I don't miss cursing every time something broke or fell off of it. '98 was the first year for the S70 and it showed.
no trade in on our prius but we still do have a 99 chevy S10 4 banger to haul around the motos. but i'm thinking as soon as the next gen prius comes out i'm putting a hitch on our '06, selling the truck and getting the 2009/2010 prius for commuting. then we'll have 2!!!
I've driven BMWs since 1999. My first car was a 318i E30, then I had a: 535i E34 then 730i E32 V8! [attachmentid=7784] and finally 318i E46 [attachmentid=7783] Now I'm joining the Toyota Prius family. I couldn't be happier. Here's my soon to be ex car. I'm getting my Prius by the end of this week.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(EarthCare @ May 1 2007, 12:16 AM) </div> Our neighbors thought we were crazy when we dumped our "cool" Range Rover for the hybrid Lexus S.U.V. If they'd read consumer reports, they'd realize glitz aint all it's cracked up to be.
