I purchased my Prius at Westbury Toyota in Westbury NY in May 2006. I had the 5000 mile service performed there and wasn't too pleased with their performance (just did an oil change when I asked for 5000 mile service, overfilled the oil). The LIPOG Crew, just recently had a meeting at Stevens Toyota (now Huntington Toyota) and the group was very pleased with with Toyota's reception and handling of the event. Since I needed a 10K mile service I decided to try Huntington Toyota. Here is a list of the items that I gave to the service advisor: 1: 10K service (Mobil 1) 2: Windshield replacement - This is a recurring theme on Long Island. 3: Car tends to drift to the left (maybe a Blue State thing ) 4: NY State inspection 5: Lower right rear ground effect plastic piece hanging down ( meeting with snow bank) I left the car and they gave me a ride home (5 miles) And the results are; 10K Service: performed without a hitch - since they promised LIPOG members a free oil change, they just charged me for the Mobil1 and backed out the cost of regular oil, filter and labor Windshield replaced with OEM unit. Because they have no agreement with the insurance companies, I had to lay out a "HONKING" charge - $1300.00 . The insurance company is issuing a check today. Drift: They did a full wheel alignment - as a warranty item. Inspection: no problem Ground effect piece loose: Resecured the piece of plastic - no charge All in all, I'm very pleased with the service.
Thanks for the report syclone! I'll give them a try next time I need service. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(syclone @ Apr 27 2007, 01:27 PM) </div>

I remember having that done on my old Mazda for something like $300 (but I'm sure it wasn't OEM part). Is there something special about the Prius windshield?

Thanks for posting a POSITIVE COMMENT about a Dealer. So many only complain and never give credit where it's due. I have a very good Dallas TX dealer - PM me if you want my recommendation. Wonder why a moderator moved this from "Care, Maintenance & Troubleshooting." Seems it was originally posted in the right place.

I second your motion, by the way. Your recommendation was heeded and not regretted. Thanks a million.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(priusmaybe @ Apr 28 2007, 10:17 PM) </div> Stone hit in corner - hardly noticeable - spread over 4 days and became a crack about 14 inches long. I first went thru my insurance company's "glass network". They didn't seem to be able to get their act together. Didn't know what brand of windshield they were going to get (not OEM). I specified either OEM or PPG. Finally I just called the dealer parts department. I think the OEM windshield was about double what the 3rd party unit would have been. Also since I'm a retail customer, they charged full retail. I have 100% glass coverage, so the Insurance company paid. When I asked them about the price, I was told it wouldn't be a problem because it was a nearly new car.
What is the most likely cause for said stone to be airborne? . Would larger following distance have prevented it [i.e. given time for the rock to no longer be airborne]? . _H*

It is full of sand and gravel pits and criss crossed constantly by huge semis hauling the stuff everywhere. especially on the Long Island Expressway, the air is full of particles, kicked up by traffic, and falling off of the sand and gravel trucks. Most of them, contrary to state law, don't carry any company identification on their cab doors, just in case you see the missile that craters your windshield.
