I'm just curious if any of your celebrated or engaged in anything special. I spent half the day in Golden Gate park as a volunteer for PG&E and performed brush and vegetation removal on a stretch of John F. Kennedy by the small pond. It was nice to see so many people from a bunch of different organizations putting in some time. Granted these are not natural ecosystems they still serve as a home for many organisms besides the ever present homeless people. During the week my club organizes our colleges annual Earth Day 2-day celebration with lots of exhibitors, bands and even a Hauttrash modeling show and a Dr. Suess Lorax play. So how did you spend your day?
I did the opposite. I burned more fuel haha. I went on a hybrid test drive spree. http://priuschat.com/Earth-Day-Test-Drives...car-t32166.html I'll update that thread on Tues. I did ride in a 1912 Electric car! (yeah, Darell will be proud).
well, i went to discuss hybrids with people last friday, and almost nobody showed up... go figure. and to top it off, i got sun burned. the sales guy let me drive the hycam though, which was way cool.

Although you'll be a good source for driver impressions of new cars now. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(galaxee @ Apr 22 2007, 06:35 PM) </div> You were going to do this where? As part of an Earth Day thing? How much faster did the Hycam feel? I sat in the one we had but it didn't seem much roomier than the Prius. I'm copying this from someone elses thread because it is funny. I think so anyway.
at duke's earth day celebration. it was a nice walk over to the undergrad side of west campus anyway... i actually only took the car for a spin around campus streets since it had like 7 miles on it and i would have felt bad driving it around anywhere else. it was a lot smoother, that's for sure. much more refined. my main complaint was not knowing where it started and ended... the body of the car, that is... i haven't driven anything that big in years!
We drove up to Keuka Lake and went on a wine tour, visiting 3 wineries. It seemed like an appropriate way to celebrate Earth Day. Parking a Prius outside a winery just looked so right. The vines look dead right now, but we are counting on Mother Earth to work her yearly miracle, and make them green again. I've got 5 new bottles of wine at my house. Harry
Just planted lots of flower around the yard and porch. Best part of the day was that my 22 month old great nephew learned to say "TREE" today!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(AuntBee @ Apr 22 2007, 09:08 PM) </div> That is awesome! <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Earthling @ Apr 22 2007, 07:17 PM) </div> I'm jealous! I need to get a job again before I can enjoy the fruits or nature.
I spent an almost full day (and I'm not finished yet) of my earth weekend pulling Melilotus from my front and side yard. I have a carpet of this stuff. I also finally installed my rain barrel.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(SSimon @ Apr 22 2007, 10:18 PM) </div> Damned invasives! lol Do you have pics of the rainbarrel?
No, but I'll take one and upload it in my rain barrel thread. I think I know why I was having trouble uploading the pictures in the nature and I think it had something to do with the format with which these pics were taken. I'll get it done by this weekend.
Not too much for me. We took the Prius to the nearby town of Fallbrook for their Avocado Festival and gathered recycle information.
It was a ho hum day for me.. just cleaned out the garage, dumped the old motor oil down the storm drain, burned that stack of old tires I had laying around all these years. oooh.. and I planted 4 raspberry bushes. All told, I think I'm a negative impact on Earth day.
I planted a dozen bushes then headed to Golden Gate Park for the Earth Day Music Festival. The Marley Gang were great and Rat Dog actually held my attention for a change. The weather was perfect and the crowd, while large was very mellow with lots of new babies bringing hope to the day. I might be a country boy at heart, but it is sure fun to go to the big city and people watch. Pinto I didn't see you anywhere!
Yeah, I went for a drive over Snoqualmie Pass to a little town called Rosyln here in Washington State. The weather in Eastern Washington was gorgeous and I took some photos and had a fantastic trip. The car is so comfortable and solid on the highway, and I got great milage, the MFD says I am now officially getting 44mpg average. Dave
Got up at 4 am and drove the Prius to Newport Beach to run the Kring & Chung Newport Beach Triathlon! Yeah! Expelled about a ton of CO2 from my own lungs. Probably more than the car did getting there! Would realy have liked a little more GW since the water temp was about 56!!!!! About threw up a lung it was so cold.
Yes, I burned a pile of old tires, no just kidding. Actually, I drove to Toronto and planted a few trees. I miss Newport Beach though, I'm from Dana Point.
