The seat belt beeper drives me nuts! I put my purse down on the passenger seat or in the back seat...start driving then the thing starts beeping obnoxiously. I'm sick of having to "buckle" my purse in. Does anyone know how to disconnect it?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(kuki @ Apr 19 2007, 03:55 PM) </div> This trick works for both the reverse beep and seatbelt beep... per http://www.eaa-phev.org/wiki/Prius_Modific...ng_Reverse_Beep * Power on the car, Cycle ODO/TRIP, stopping on ODO, Power off the car. * Power on, within 6 seconds, hold ODO for at least 10 seconds. * While still holding ODO shift into Reverse and back into Park. * b-on shows on speedometer display, press ODO to cycle to "b-off". * This also works for the seatbelt beep, replace shifting with buckling/un-buckling. I had been known to buckle the belt behind my briefcase. But giving some thought, and recalling an incident years ago where I got hit it the back of the head by an object flying forward from the back of a car... I put the briefcase on the floor behind the pax seat or in the rear cargo area. Think about it... anything heavy enough to set off the seat belt beeper should be secured, not flying loose in the cockpit if you get in a wreck. And yes - I use cargo straps in the back of the car.
Man you must have a heavy purse... (it couln't be that you're driving w.o. a seatbelt now is it?).... my 45 pound dog doesn't trigger it... my 90 pound dog does...

I can't imagine why anyone would want to disconnect this. I never HEAR this beep because I always put my seatbelt on BEFORE starting a car. Why don't you try it too? Seat belt beep MAGICALLY disappears!! Dave
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(SomervillePrius @ Apr 24 2007, 12:30 PM) </div> My 20 lb. dog will trigger it. So will a gallon of milk if it is sitting just right. IMNTBHO, dogs don't belong in the front seat any more than kids do. I have a difference of opinion with some members of my family on this - but when I'm driving, the dog goes in a crate. For the safety of the dog and humans. You don't drive around with your 90 lb. dog unrestrained, do you? In a wreck, an animal that big could kill you.
