"Worse than Nixon" On the day that Rep. Dennis Kucinich is introducing articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney, former Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern is predicting that the vice president and his boss will be out of office soon enough anyway. "It is my firm belief that the Cheney-Bush team has committed offenses that are worse than those that drove Nixon, Vice President Spiro Agnew and Atty. Gen. John Mitchell from office after 1972," McGovern writes in a Los Angeles Times Op-ed. "Indeed, as their repeated violations of the Constitution and federal statutes, as well as their repudiation of international law, come under increased consideration, I expect to see Cheney and Bush forced to resign their offices before 2008 is over. "
There have been threads on this before. The Dems do not have enough votes to to impeach. I agree, however, that the offenses merit impeachment.

Performing acts opposed to your personal views are in fact impeachable. If you're from la-la land. In America, you would have to have done something wrong.

Kucinich was going to introduce his impeachment resolution today (he had originally planned to do so last week, but deferred it due to the VA Tech shootings). He once again has delayed it, as Cheney went to the hospital today to get a blood clot in his leg checked out, and Kucinich said he will not introduce it until the Vice President's health problems are resolved. That is the difference between liberals and conservatives. Had Clinton gone into the hospital while the impeachment proceedings against him were ongoing, not only would the Republicans have kept them up, Newt Gingrich would have convened the impeachment hearings in Clinton's hospital room.

Regardless of what you think about Bush's policies, no reasonable person can expect that Bush or Cheney will be impeached. On the other hand, I would have said the same thing about Clinton
