Most annoying thing about the prius?

Minor but annoying: gradually discovered how inadequately thin and short the sun visors are compared to the length of the window. I have to raise my arm up to shield my face from the sun with the visor extended sideways. Any one else annoyed by this feature??

Why they don't have extendable portions, like my previous Toyota did, I don't know.

 

Fill-up not consistant because of the bladder.



My other issues is that the lower rear window gets dirty fast, and since there is not wiper, it cannot be cleaned on the 'fly'



Besides that, I'm enjoying the car.

I did my first test drive today, and noticed the same issue. It seems like you are sitting so far forward that the a posts are to wide. I was ducking and weaving all over the place to make sure that my way was clear. Also the seat wasn't the greatest. I hope they may fix that for the 08 model.

True. I've owned a BMW 7 series. Once had to remove the electric seats for repair. They are ultra HEAVY! If the Prius had electric seats, it would ad quite a weight penalty. Besides, how often do you adjust your seat?

They don't have to be POWER, but they ought to be ADJUSTABLE. There are 8-way manually adjustable seats which aren't much at all heavier than the Prius's (and what would they add to the cost? $200 maybe?).

It's not a matter of HOW OFTEN you adjust your seat, but whether you do so AT ALL. The nearly total lack of adjustability was almost a deal-killer for me, and I find the Prius seats to be literally a pain in the rear during long drives--and a pain in the thighs. In cars I've had for the last 17 or so years, I like the forward portion of the seat bottom tilted upward, for thigh support. This is especially appropriate for the Prius, where that helps with pulse and glide (when you back-off the accelerator). I once drove cross-county in my Solara, doing up to 800 miles in a day. I wouldn't want to do half that in the Prius (a 150 mile drive I took last week was less comfortable than 700 miles in the Solara).

If you think it's bad in a Prius test drive a 98 dodge quad cab 4x4 p/u it is the worst for that blind spot, after test driving the prius there was plenty to see I did not notice the blind spot in the prius compared to the dodge p/u.

other problem is the sun visor too short does not cover the side window useless

Good to know it's not just me ... I even had clip-on extenders from my old car, but the Prius visors are TOO THICK to receive them! Bah! Nothing I love more than being caught in tailgate hell at the I-5/805 merge with traffic going 75 mph from 12 lanes to 5 and having that glaring Pacific sunset blinding me. I've considered getting "post-eye-dilation" wraparound sunglasses ... then again, maybe not. <sigh> The sacrifices we make for fashion


And I was glad to see someone mention the clockwise/counterclockwise wiper issue ... I've had this car for 9 months and still screw it up half the time.

Ditto that! Either it needs more leg room, or a telescopic steering wheel too. I find I have to stretch my arms out to drive it economically, otherwise I cramp up. I find I sit so high in the seat that the sun doesnt bother me as much as it does in my other car and truck. I am thinking of looking for a different seat that is adjustable that can replace it, but I have the side airbag to contend with. Aside from the seat and lack of leg room, I like the car, and after 1300 miles I am up to 47 MPG avg, which I think is pretty good for mostly highway miles and hills. Would be even better if I didn have so many stop signs to contend with.

 

I'm a birder and the distortion of the glass in the windshield drives me crazy.
Also the thick A-pillars cut visibility (of traffic, not birds)

 

1. No height-adjustable driver seats (US only)
2. Passenger cannot use Bluetooth/NAV system while car's in motion
3. No auto-door lock
4. JBL sound system majorly sucks
5. Steering wheel controls too limited
6. No 12V outlets for rear seating and/or cargo area
7. No built-in compass w/ Homelink mirror
8. No sunroof
9. No OEM roof racks
10. No Plug-in!!!

 

My apologies if it has been mentioned before but the shuffle function of the CD player drives me nuts.

1. If you shuffle an MP3 disc and skip the currently playing song you don't get another random song; you get the next song on the listi.

2. You can not shuffle between MP3 discs, only within a single disc.

 

The fact that you can't unlock the rear doors by just touching the door handle.

Then in order:

1) Hard plastics for my elbows. What were they thinking?

2) Non-telescopic wheel

3) Radio station selection blacks out while driving.

4) I have disabled every beep I can but the car still has two beeps when it powers up.

5) Small rear wiper

And yes I whine a lot!

 

I can't tell when Doors are locked esp at night. Could there not be a light.


I would have liked an option of a durable MBTEX vinyl interior like Mercedes used to use on lower packages.


I would have liked the option of factory leather without having to have upgraded stereo, bluetooth, homelink, and especially navigation.

Sun roof of some kind would be nice. Let me choose if I want less gas mileage while using it.

Immediately after you press the lock button, you can pull the door handle to test if the doors are locked.

Right. But that's not what the poster's asking for.

Myself, when I walk up to the car, I'd like to be able to open the rear door first
to throw in my backpacks etc. BEFORE opening the front door. Since I can't do
that, I have to first touch the front door handle to unlock all the doors, then open
the rear door.

Still, this is too small an inconvenience to make my top-10 gripe list though.
