This was just too good. I was at a Lowe's home improvement store today, and parked close to me was one of those Ford pickup trucks that doesn't know if it's a truck or a car. It had four doors like a normal SUV, but also had a small pickup bed in back. The bed was covered with a hard cover. The owners of the truck had purchased a shower curtain rod, and had just come to the sorry conclusion that it didn't fit into their truck! It was too long to go into the mini-bed, too long to fit inside the cab, and there wasn't any way to combine both spaces. I could have put it inside my Prius with room to spare. It was all I could do to not yell over with some snotty comment. I suppose I'll pay for this with bad karma, but I found it very amusing. Tom
I had to bring a sheet of plywood home in the Prius it fits it was cut in half though. but I was still impressed that all the room when you fold down the seats. it's like a p/u but not when you see him again tell him that you can deliver for gas money, say 50 cents will do...lol
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(qbee42 @ Apr 19 2007, 03:05 PM) </div> Well that just made my day. And reminds me... I saw this guy in a HUGE truck (lifted F150) the other day. He needed to get up to the loading dock for something. There's a curb cut, but it was blocked with cones. All he has to do is drive up the curb next to him (with his 4" of lift and 22" chrome wheels) - but no. You had to see it to believe how foolish it looked when he insisted that the cones be moved so he wouldn't have to go over a curb (that he was being pointed to by the dock workers) smaller than I've managed with the Prius on several occasions. I think the curtain rod thing still beats mine though. Wonder what he did? Bent it in half? Went to rent a Prius?
They couldn't fit the shower rod in diagonally? Even in three dimensions (i.e. front left top to right rear bottom corners)?
That is too funny. I had a similar experience when I bought a big birdcage. Well sort of big for the size of birds I have. I rolled the cage out of the store and a guy with a Ford Taurus laughs at me and says you’ll never fit that cage in your pos. (oh he was taking apart a smaller cage to fit it in his car because it would not fit in the back even with the seats down because of the angle and the way the throughput is shaped.) I didn’t say anything I just put my seats down opened the hatch, removed the sunshade thing, slid the cage in and closed up my car, and drove off. He flipped me off when I drove by; I just waved. i love my car.

Base civic hybrid =26000 Canadian dollars Base prius= 31000 Canadian dollars $5000 difference I still choose the prius just for the space. I love hatchback. Why is prius more expensive than civic H here in canad, in US civic is more expensive
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IAO @ Apr 20 2007, 11:32 AM) </div> Except for full-width (4' x 8') plywood, there's nothing I can't get in my Prius that I could get in my Taurus Wagon (This was a '90). There are some things I can get in the Prius that I couldn't get in that wagon. Dave M.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(darelldd @ Apr 19 2007, 06:59 PM) </div> That's funny. Many years ago I drove a CJ-5 Jeep. It was a POS, but I drove over curbs and through muck and whatnot in it. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IAO @ Apr 20 2007, 11:32 AM) </div> So, first the moron tells you the birdcage won't fit in your Prius, and when it does he flips you off!!!??? That's great! The sad part is he'll probably go home and hit his wife or his kid. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DjEZ @ Apr 20 2007, 01:35 PM) </div> Just a guess: Maybe the "base" Prius in Canada has more features than the "base" Prius in the U.S.? I think you only have two packages, a base pkg and a premium pkg. We have more different combinations, so if the base packages are different it would explain the price anomaly. Is the HCH more expensive in Canada than in the U.S. after you adjust for the exchange rate?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DjEZ @ Apr 20 2007, 01:35 PM) </div> no idea. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daniel @ Apr 20 2007, 03:20 PM) </div> Nope. You guys have side/side curtains as standard and optional backup cameras on most packages (we only get them bundled with the nav system). Also, your fully loaded model with nav/leather/HID/backup camera/ cost the same as our midlevel model (everything minus the above mentioned)
You (and I) need to ge some of those fake tickets to put on gas guzzlers like V8 trucks (I'm assuming the one you encountered was one). The tickets might explain how v8s polute so much more than hybrids and are part of the problem, not the solution. It might be bad Karma and an example of Prius smugness, but it would be fun to watch the response (from a distance).
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(robandjeanne @ Apr 20 2007, 06:27 PM) </div> I think it would just make the gas-guzzler drivers angry. Increasing the total amount of anger on the roads, just makes the roads less safe than they already are. And if some baboon happened to see you putting the "ticket" on his truck, he might just follow you to your Prius and key it, to get even.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(robandjeanne @ Apr 20 2007, 06:27 PM) </div> Yea, there's NO way I'd do that. I love my Prius, but I would not push "ideoligies" on to other people. At least in a way that seems so confrontational... Just like smoking, people know what the cons are to what they are doing...
