The "secret" bin works perfectly as a Kleenex box holder... the smaller, expensive square kind. ;)

I use it to hide my iPod when I have to park in a sketchy part of town. Locked or no locked. I still don't want to leave it out in the open.

Haven't found it yet (after about a month)! And I did read a lot of the manual! Can't wait to get to my Prius now to explore! :)

I just got my Prius 3 days ago and I had no clue about this. I spoke with a few differant dealers and not one of them mentioned it, including one who owned a Prius herself. Luckily you all pointed it out for me, now I just need to find something to 'hide' in here.

Now everyone in the world knows what states you all live in, they see photos of your cars in your avatars and they all know what you keep in the draw in the front of the consol.
What about the secret box under the left rear floor? You can put a bottle of chardonnay in there on ice as it's water tight.

Hey, chardonnay, I never thought of that one! Water might slosh out if you take a corner too fast though. Now that I have a $170 radar detector, it goes in that console storage bin whenever I park in public, along with the ipod and Swiffer duster for getting New Mexico mesa off the dash. Any crackhead that breaks in hopefully would not stand on his head to find the goodies to support his drug habit. Although maybe crackheads have a website like this one where they compare notes on where valuables are stored in different model cars :( naaaahhhh

Alright, that's getting a little old. Let me start by saying that I read the damn owner's manual, cover to cover. It wasn't exactly an exciting read. Frankly, unless I need to look up something important that I can't remember, I never intend to open it again. I'd rather be forced to read Bronte with a side helping of Richard Henry Dana. I don't know about you, but I definitely didn't memorize it. I just figured out how to operate the critical systems, put the book down, and moved on. So, yes, I did read about the silly secret compartment, but I can assure you that compared to "How I get this damn Bluetooth to work" or "what do those flashing little arrows mean", it seemed unimportant. In fact, I promptly forgot about it for at least two years, until I discovered it like some spy-movie hidey-hole.

So quit bashing people for not reading the manual. Most of us did.

<Gets down off of soap box.>

    Thanks for pointing it out.
I've had my Prius for 19 months and never noticed it!!!!
Of course now it will be packed with junk, like my other bins.

It also works with the rectangular size. I use the big box, end in 1st, the lean the box back.

I had my car for a month, and only after reading one of the postings, that I got to know about the drawer. Now, its 4 months later and I haven't figured out what to use it for, until I read this.
Great idea, now I won't have to use my sleeve to wipe the screen, or yell at my son for using his.
And...would be good if someone would come up of some sort of a clear coating that could be put on the screen, way too many fingerprints can be seen on it, not mine...my son's, the passenger.

I discovered mine the first weekend I had the car. I sat down before reading the manual and looked around the car and found the bin.

However, my mother also has a Prius, which is a 2005. She didn't know it was there when I told her two weeks ago! So that's over two years!

I think your Mother's 2 years without finding it is the official record so far!! Lots of good ideas in this thread regarding what to keep in there. Guess I'll have to buy a smaller pistol that will fit in there. This morning all the Cop cars parked in the right lane broke my pulse and glide as I came upon them investigating a murder at a park 1.5 miles from my house

Now there's an idea for a new thread: What's the largest size gun, including clip, that will fit into the Prius' bottom storage compartment?
