I'm wondering what you all use for quick-touch ups to the front bumper, side-mirrors, etc. between washings? I like to get the bugs and things off as soon as possible, but don't want to wash it every day (who would). There are a number of products out there, including TurtleWax Carwash Wipes, different quick detailers, etc. I did the full detail last weekend, with Zaino (3 coats) but don't want to choose a quick detailer that might interact badly with that treatment. I'm a bit afraid of the wipes, wondering if they just drag grit across the dry surface of the car. What do you use, if anything?
I confess to never washing my Prius at all, my husband does. I asked him and he said he uses a waffle weave towel and some of the Zaino Z-7 Show Car Wash cleaning solution full strenght. He then rinses it quickly with lots of water.
The front bumper of the Prius is a bug magnet! I keep my car waxed with Blackfire, which is the best thing I've ever used, and use a damp rag to clean the bugs off between washings. I haven't noticed any scratches from doing so. I try to wash my car once a week.
I've used those car wash wipe (Armor All? They come in a green, reclosable soft package) and they worked fine.
I am a relative novice to this car wax stuff. Recently in California I saw some show cars and their fabulous high gloss polish. Can we use a wax/polish like that on our precious Prius? If so, where do we get that "Show Car Polish?" (I live in Missouri.) Also, where do we buy Meguiar's cleaning wax, Zaino Z-7 car wash and does Zaino also make a car polish? Also, where do we buy Blackfire car wax? Thanks for your help.
For quick cleanups, I have been using the same stuff I have been using on the Harley. Protect-all. Available in foaming spray or pump bottle. Dissolves bugs in a hurry and floats grit away from the surface for GENTLE wiping. Leaves a protective coating behind also. Look for it at motorcycle and boating shops if you can't find it at your local auto parts establishment. Mike
