So my wife needed to look at colleges with my daughter in New England. Don't take the Prius, I said, because the tires need to be replaced and there's bad weather expected in Vermont. I'm a New Englander, she counters, and I know how to drive in bad weather. Next day I get a call from her. Everyone's ok, she said (Thank God) but I'm in a ditch on the side of the highway waiting for the tow truck. I just had no traction, she continued. We agreed she would get towed to a service station where she would swap the tires. Don't get anything until you call me, I pleaded. She agreed. Three hours later I get a call from them on their way to New Hampshire. I got Dayton Widetrack SPs she says. I said Dayton, why didn't you call me? There wasn't any cell service there and they wouldn't let me make a long distance call. So I bought these Daytons. Are they any good? she asks. I've never heard of these tires, so I am asking all of you. Do I want to be stuck with these for the next 25K miles?

My original Goodyears have over 31,000 and look only half-worn, if that. The Dayton website mentions Uni-T, which is a Firestone/Bridgestone selling point, so they may be connected to Fire-Bridgestone.

Then she buys the wrong tires... As far as the tires, they can't be any worse than the Integrities on a new Prius...
I think, for mileage, the biggest concern is the weight...traction-wise, I couldn't agree more that you'd have to look long and hard to find a tire with worse traction than the Integrities.
they are second line Firestone tires, sold thru stores that don't have an affiliation with national brands. Been around since the dawn of time.
